I Concur with the post, Hughes wins often but with the ammunition he has and the prices they start should do better.
The other Richard who is very much overated is Richard Johnston. Reasonable over hurdles, dreadful over the fences, and yet still gets the good rides. Wouldnt let him ride on my local bus, and as such it is a rarity for me to have a bet if he is riding my fancied choice, just my opinion though.

If everyone keeps on dissing this animal he might actually go off a tidy price.

I personally would not want to play at this price but I would rather be with him than agin him.

He impressed me last time out, not because of the performance but because he got really warm beforehand, ran free and still put it to the others in a good style, a similar peformance will get him home comfortably.

I Backed the animal Each Way and whilst being held up came round the outside travelling strongly. He got within about half a length of the leaders of four looking likely to go on, but could not sustain his effort. He looked genuine enough and beaten about 2.5 lenghts, I believed he tried, but my honest opinion is that the connections think he has more ability than he possibly has. Possibly will win a similar race as this was his first outing on grass but in my opinion will not go on from there.

    Oh So Sharp, Diminuendo

Oh So Sharp proved how great she was with a triple crown. If she did it today she would be hailed from the highest tower and lorded as a superstar.
Diminuendo went close to emulating her but for the steward watering the course, and as happens 6 inches of rain fell the night before the race making the ground in her ledger bid heavy, btn shthd.

These where great animals and their like will probably not be seen again.

    Royal Gait

Won a group one disqualified on the flat and a champion hurdle over hurdles in a limited career, maybe not the greatest but a good old stick at the very least.

Dont write that often now just read but you could do far worse than back RED BIR at Lingfield in the 2-30. On times and ratings it looks thrown in and is my best of the day.  Another who will run a big race is RED SPELL in the 3-35. An Each Way double looks like a free bet to me and if both win a red letter day is on the cards.

    Happy Birthday and good luck

There is an individual, who is so much better than most of those mentioned, and missing from the list, he would probably have been the greatest national hunt trainer of all time if carrying on….barring none………MICHEAL DICKENSON……….who had it all before him before he left………Best Ever……In my book.

How do you know what a horses best distance is…….Dont say breeding…..look at Red Rum won under Lester over 5 Furlongs and won over 4 and a half miles under Stack……you will never prove what a horses best distance is if a trainer states he believed it to be something else. They should all be ridden to the line though, even if its winning by 20 lengths….and the one we should have to stop cheating is the horses weight as half the time the animals are not fully fit…..this would tell us the whole truth and be difficult for the connections to hide when D-day is about to arrive.
