Wondered if anyone had a view on the performance of this horse this afternoon. It was supported early (backed into 3/1 at one stage) but drifted markedly close to the off on the exchanges (sp was 5/1).
For information purposes it was ridden by Simon Whitworth.
June 15, 2008 at 19:57 #168469Class 5 handicaps are not normally my thing, David; but I did see this race.
I didn’t study the race yesterday so I’m not familiar with the running styles of the horses involved. The horse certainly didn’t seem to settle, but other than that, I didn’t see anything ‘unusual’ about the race.
As for betting patterns, I noticed the betfair SP was a point bigger than Industry SP, which is not unusual.
What was your view?
June 15, 2008 at 20:53 #168475I find the simple expedient of never backing Sh*tworth works wonders. You miss out on one winner a month at most and save yourself having to start threads like this every other day.
June 15, 2008 at 21:09 #168476The stats on SW’s mounts when the SP is longer than the FP are incredible. 75% loss over the last 3 years although I realise that wasnt the case yesterday. That horse clearly has ability, looks like their lining it up.
June 16, 2008 at 00:08 #168489I Backed the animal Each Way and whilst being held up came round the outside travelling strongly. He got within about half a length of the leaders of four looking likely to go on, but could not sustain his effort. He looked genuine enough and beaten about 2.5 lenghts, I believed he tried, but my honest opinion is that the connections think he has more ability than he possibly has. Possibly will win a similar race as this was his first outing on grass but in my opinion will not go on from there.
