With all the flash frames and other gizmos running on the Posts Website I now have trouble in viewing the Topspeed ratings and have to continously refresh the page (F5) to view.
I have sent emails to the help desk with a video I produced to show them the problem and they get back to you in a week saying they can’t view the video (no doubt they don’t have the codecs setup on their server).
I have tried using different browsers but nothing works.
I made up another video this time as a .wmv file for people on this board to view to see if it is a common problem.

I realise that they setup their website in this manner to stop people data stripping but when you cannot view, the posts helpdesk don’t seem to care.I have just spent the last week adjusting all my handicap ratings in my excel sheet to bring every horse in the list up-to-date.
New horses were added and some were deleted.
I could say that this was a labour of love but all I got from it was a headache

I refresh the decs list everyday, and tomorrows runners (5th Oct) were just updated at 17.00PM.
I find that the 2 day declarations for trainers isn’t working as they come up with all sorts of excuses not to run.If I ever wondered how accurate my handicap ratings were, I only have to look at two recent examples.
On the 26th September Kempton AW, Dramatic Jewel (USA) finished 4th to Mutamayez off an official rating of 46 and in my handicap I put him in at 63 (+17), and when the handicapper reassessed him he put him up to 65 (+19).
On the same day at Ascot. Dyna Waltz finished 5th to Hibaayeb off an official rating of 79 and In my handicap I raised him to 103 (+24) and when reassessed by the handicapper he put him up to 103 (+24).
These are two examples of horses not getting into the frame being put up +19 and +24 on their ratings, and people wonder why it is hard to win when you thought you had an edge!
I had the Setanta package with Virgin Media and it is now been changed too ESPN, no RUK but at least I get to watch the Baseball.
The upside to this is that you don’t have to listen to Steve Mellish talking at a hundred miles an hour.I pay for the basic package due to the fact that my handicap ratings are stored on their server.
I have sent off at least 6 emails complaining about the service they supply, notably Top Speed refusing to rate race meetings like Southwell NH, Wetherby NH, Haydock NH, Tranmore and a few others for example.
And the reply you get back is that there is not enough races to calculate the ratings!
The racecourses noted above have been around for decades and because of the amount of meetings now to assess, some simply are not being done.
Now you have the once mighty Raceform Ratings (RPR) wallowing at the bottom of the naps table, time for a change of personal I think?Robnorth thanks for the advice, I have been compilling my own handicap ratings for a while now (see Systems page under Private Handicapping).
I got a reply from the Racing Post.
[code:1mizkmam]The ratings are revised as they evolve. By definition, many races have little evidence to work with during the early stages. In addition, sometimes deadlines force us to place provisional ratings on the database before we can comprehensively assess each individual race in the sort of detail we would like to.
We feel that any adjustments in the ratings can only be helpful as they give a clearer picture and account for any new form lines as the two year olds’ careers develop.

Racing Post Customer Services[/code:1mizkmam]So in a nutshell if the guys resposible for the ratings haven’t got around to working them out…THEY ARE MADE UP (another meaning for provisional)
This would explain why the Racing Post Ratings are bottom of the nap table and they expect people to pay for this…I have my handicap ratings on the Racing Post server, and I have noticed especially with the 2yo races when checking the results, that the final RPR ratings given to the 2yo’s, can change up to 3 times in the space of a week.
I have sent off an email to the Post this week asking why the RPR ratings keep on changing; no answer yet.
You are not going mad, as I have noticed that the Racing Post ratings keep on changing…I have just selected a few + horses that are running today from my spreadsheet.

Forecast : REQUISITE 79 +7On the 16th January HIGHLAND WARRIOR ran off a mark of 63 and I gave the
horse a rating of 76 +13 (see spreadsheet) over his OR mark, and tonight he is running off 74
and with Paul Pickard taking off 7lb’s the trainer is obviously going for the hat trick.
The higest rating I have given the horse in the past is 82 (23Aug08 C5) so hopefully he will
just get his head in front on the line and win for the connections.BlueBrother can you tell us based on who’s ideas/books are your ratings compiled on?
Actuary can you tell us also about your ratings?My ratings are not based on anybody’s ideas, but I did read a lot of books on the subject like "Beyer on Speed" etc.
The idea and system I came up with was to find a way to compare my ratings against the offical handicapper, and as far as I am aware, I am the only one to do so.
