Well said, Firefox.
They clearly realised Kempton on repeat was dull as they teased us with a helping of their Classic Races series between re-runs. I reckon I’ve seen Dubai Millenium’s finest hour more times than Sheikh Mohammed now!
I don’t see what RUK’s problem is here.
They already let us view their archive races for free (albeit after a bit of farting around with their video player) via the Channel 4 Racing website, so why take them off YouTube?
All it’s doing is denying racing a wider audience and denying us the classic races from pre RUK times.
To be fair, Yeats has valid had excuses for his couple of defeats at this time of year. Not his best trip (’06 Irish Leger), tactics and course (’07 Cadran) and lumps of weight (Melbourne Cup).
I can’t see him being beaten if he turns up here.
No further detail beyond it being a setback on the RP site.
It’s very unfortunate for connections; especially after War Of Attrition’s tendon troubles.
Perhaps a multiple Group 1 winner over a mile makes a more desirable broodmare than one with a clutch of 1m 2f+ Group 1 victories.
I’m not saying that’s what’s foremost in Jim Bolger’s mind, but it has to be a factor.
EDIT: HTH, I saw your edit, just in time.

I would’ve thought an ‘administrative error’ would be a positive though.
Didn’t he ‘misplace’ New Approach in the Derby?
CARNT SPELL (Wizard King – Forever Shineing)
That one always made me smile.
Lush Lashes for me.
I’m sure Kevin Manning will be playing it very safe when timing his run this time.
Have you been racing much Young Fella?
‘Fraid not. We used to live very near to Market Rasen, so I went there now and again in the summer. I got very attached to Ei Ei as it seemed like he ran there every meeting and was such a tough cookie.
Nowadays, I make it to Newton Abbot and Taunton when I can. If I’m slumming it then there’s Bath Music Festival/racecourse too.
Welcome aboard Young Fella ~ it’s good to have fresh blood on the forum.
Thanks

If we’re talking first bets, I can remember pestering the parents into sticking a few quid on ol’ Gunner Welburn in the National of ’04. Pulled up. That was the end of that.
I agree with you totally, Neil.
It has been difficult to nurture my interest with parents who find Horse Racing:
1) Morally wrong.
2) Boring. But they soon learnt I wasn’t about to give it up.
The LEAs in this country really should arrange the school term dates better. I’m fed up with running home to catch race 3 onwards of The Festival!
Sounds like someone has had their fingers burnt a few times…
It looked like the horse blew up on the home turn, suggesting he wasn’t fully tuned up after a few months off. It’d be nice to see the authorities look into it at the very least.
Good point.
Still, I think we saw the very best Powell is capable of when he was scrapping for the world record before Bolt arrived on the scene. Pressure doesn’t seem to affect Bolt whatsoever.
I suppose there’s the danger he might start fretting over how to celebrate as he gets down on the blocks.
I shouldn’t tempt fate.
HTH, Asafa Powell is indeed in good form, but I can’t see him ever catching Bolt.
Perhaps he could if they ever clashed in a less significant event…but Asafa has a habit of tensing up on the big stage. You’d have to feel the pressure and hype a rematch would generate could only work against him.
Plus Bolt seems to have a scary amount left in the tank.
