I don’t lay horses but I feel that WELL CHIEF is incredibly short.  With the bounce factor, the fact that he beat average horses, and the quality of the opposition (Newmill is a worthy champion and VPU will be a danger if his jumping has not suffered).  I take him to get beaten.

I think Howard "Fish and Chip supper" Johnson can do that all by himself !!!

It’s difficult as most of the really good 3m+ chasers are injured and we don’t know how well they will come back.  That’s why a 2 miler is such a short price this year !?!?!?

I am gutted as War Of Attrition would have made mincemeat of Kauto Star !

I would narrow it down to:

War Of Attrition / Trabolgan / My Way De Solzen

I think you’re badly mistaken.  The ground is not going to be bottomless and it really would have to be for Nickname to win.

I could not take such a short price about Well Chief.  He brilliantly beat an average field last time.  He may bounce.  He may not quite be good enough anymore.  He may win by a mile.

I just think that at the odds the current champion NEWMILL is a bit of value.  He runs in this race as the going is likely to be soft rather than heavy.  He’s in wonderful form too judging by his recent top class hurdles win.

And the guy who said Sporazene for second was having a laugh …. wasn’t he ?!?!?!?!?

I think that if Straw Bear was a decent bet then AP wouldn’t have been desperate to get off and ride Brave Inca.

I also think (do I think too much ?) that win or lose Detroit City is shocking value.

Brave Inca and Hardy Eustace are proven Champion Hurdle class and at 5/1 Hardy looks superb value.

    Thanks for the info Trackside.

As I said, I’m on Granite Jack so I would be quite happy if a few more dropped out lol.

The Arkle is different to other 2m novice chases as they go off really quickly and turn it into a stamina test.  Maybe this is one of the reasons it is becoming such a good trial for the Gold Cup.  Anyway, with the going being soft/heavy, the tough fences and the fast pace I think that MY WAY DE SOLZEN stands out a mile.  I’ve been very impressed with Fair Along this season but MWDS has proven class, is proven at the Festival, jumps like a stag, stays all day.  As long as Alan King doesn’t have a rush of blood to the head and decide on the Ryanair I make this horse one of the 2 bankers of the meeting with Denman.

Amaretto Rose is a worthy favourite but I cannot back a horse at such a short price in a competitive race.  They go very fast and it will be a test of stamina.  I like the look of GRANITE JACK each way as Nicholls seems confident.  Clopf might come out best of the irish as he seems to have a good attitude.
