Somewhere on the floor next to me in a huge pile of ‘stuff to be sorted out’ is my ‘guide to finding the Ebor winner’.
It is not a dartboard and dart I hope

"Scorn is temporary, brass is permanent"
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
Just in case you hadn’t seen, 2nd placed The Cheka runs in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville tomorrow. Mind there is quite a strong home defence.
Thanks, I hadn’t noticed that. Will check out the form and odds after the Athletics tonight.

I backed "Scotty" when he won the race in 2006 and would love to see him run well. Not the force he was but handicap company may prove more suitable. His trainer used to maintain that his stable star came good at this time of year and his course form will be a help. My biggest worry would be that all his wins since this race six years ago have come at five furlongs.
My two against the field are Hawkeyethenoo and Alben Star who are both 12/1. Jamesie, Dungannon and Victoire De Lyphar all look short enough in the betting to me but it is not a race to have confidence in either way.
Well in Steve. Hope you weren’t too ‘cautious’!
Thanks. Just small stakes on these type of races. Nice to get a good winner though.
Amazing to see Waffle go off 7/1 favourite today. His ONLY win was over four years ago in a £2500 Leicester maiden where he was 4/5 favourite. You really have to wonder about some people’s concept of value.

Thanks to all who responded, it is appreciated. I didn’t hear the post race commentary and was assuming that she would try her luck at York as she held an entry and looks to hold a terrific chance if it doesn’t turn too soft. Interesting that the July Cup run on a bog has seen 4th placed Ortensia win yesterday and 5th placed Hawkeyethenoo lift the Stewards Cup today. Funny old game, as Jimmy Greaves would say.

Rich you are off the ball here, watch the money keep flooding in for this horse! 25/1 shot now fella.
That horse was never going to win, back to the drawing board eh Bruce, or should that be dart board?

It finished 23rd of 27 runners. It is madness to be confident in that type of race.

3:45 Goodwood
25 points @ 8/1 (FD) Willie Wag Tail*William Buick had his head firmly up his Khyber on this horse today. Keep the faith!!

Watching today’s 3.45 you had to wonder about some Jockey’s. Sitting in behind on the rails with a wall of horses in front and then wondering why those in front were not pulling off the rails and indicating them to politely come through. William Buick on Willie Wag Tail should have handed his riding fee back to the owners. He gave the horse zero chance, as he nipped in behind near the rails with seeming child like faith that the runners in front would suddenly disappear. Keep an eye on Willie Wag Tail for again, he is better than he was able to show under a feeble ride today.

A disappointing race I thought. You could have thrown a Hobbit’s duvet over the first five home. Ghurair wandered this way and that but stayed on a little towards the end of the race. He doesn’t really look like he has the pace to be a contender in the Guineas on this evidence. Still a promising sort with improvement to come but the notion that he has freakish ability was clearly filed in the "Fantasy Island" folder today.
Olympic Glory is now as low as 14/1 with some for the Guineas now. That makes no appeal whatever after today’s race.

My bet for the day is
Landaman
e/w at 10/1 (bet 365) in the opener. He seemed to be in some form when many of Mark Johnson’s were not and, given the sound surface of his two wins, his front running style should suit at Goodwood. The stable had some nice winners on Saturday for the same owner and I’ll give him a go to complete the hat trick.
Good Shout Steve, apart from the drama at the start your horse was an emphatic winner, typical Mark Johnston sort game as a pebble.
Cheers, Usually I find it hard to catch the right one from the stable, who’s runners often have a form line that resembles a telephone number.
In tomorrow’s marathon Goodwood opener, I am hoping Orsippus can run well under Keiren Fallon at a track where he won some time ago on his only previous visit. A wide open contest of course, but at 10/1 (Stan James) I would expect he can be in the first four, given that he has run well before over similar stamina sapping trips.

I can’t believe this poll is sitting neck and neck. Would anyone really prefer to see Camelot slogging it out with future hurdlers and horses he has already thrashed, rather than watch him take on the horse currently carrying the mantle of King of all he surveys?
I hope neither race happens for purely selfish ante-post Arc reasons with Camelot but I have no doubt which race would be more exciting to watch and slightly tougher to call.

"Now listen Son, it’s a strange time to be asking me but one simply grasps the erect member thus"

Oooh! Hah-ha! Do we take it that it’s the voice of experience talking there?

Well, it would bring a whole new meaning to "Taking a pull at Tattenham Corner"
