I’ve spent 10 minutes speaking and patting Captain Bertie at Charlie Hills, he’s certainly one who could lose his race before hand!

Personally I still think 12/1 for a Hunt Cup is incredibly short for Captain Bertie I really do.

    Bruce,
When did you spend 10 minutes with Captain Bertie? It’s possible Bertie’s been gelded since then and changed a bit. Although still a wanderer in the closing stages, probably not as bad as he was last season.

As Gord says, the horse has won at a mile (Spring Cup) on soft ground; so Captain Bertie has few stamina doubts even with Captain Rio as sire. In fact if it is soft ground his sire will be a big help; having such a good record on the surface.

Been waiting for a decent horse to run from the Tom Tate yard!

He has decided to run it tomorrow in the bloody Amateur Race which i generally hate! However everything looks in place for him to run a huge race and Hayley Moore is extremely capable and up there in the top 3 at this level!

myself GDC but I’ll be keeping the powder dry till Tuesday now!
    I like the look of

    Englishman

in the Coventry, particularly on the proposed soft ground.I remember his Dam ‘Tesary’ running against ‘Tax Free’ one day,she was a speedy sort who handled soft ground well,I just hope my ‘Guineas’ horse ‘Dawn Approach’ doesn’t run as he’d be a major danger,I’d like to see him over 7f next in the ‘National’ stakes then the Dewhurst!

    Lilys Angel

she’ll be staying on gamely when most have called enough,20/1 is Massive!

Never had a penny on GDC,just keeping the confidence up for Royal Ascot, you have to go into battle Buzzin mate or you’ll get stung. This years meeting could prove to be a helluva challenge with this inclement Weather, either way I’ll going in with my Guns a Blazin mate! My

    Captain Bertie

would be my banker of the meeting! Who puts up a runner in a 30 horse handicap as a Banker? TAPK!

I’m still hoping ‘Bated Breath’ runs in the ‘Jubilee’ rather than the ‘Kings stand’ as he was the first bet I had in the race.I’m still keen on

    Masamah

for the 5f race and have snaffled 70’s down, should the ground dry further I can see him going off around the 16/1 mark!

    Masamah

    £50 e/w 33/1 Corals Kings Stand.

Our boy Masamah has landed himself in close proximity to Stone Of Folca which is going to be eye watering for you TAPK if they take each other on.

My bet for the day is

    Landaman

e/w at 10/1 (bet 365) in the opener. He seemed to be in some form when many of Mark Johnson’s were not and, given the sound surface of his two wins, his front running style should suit at Goodwood. The stable had some nice winners on Saturday for the same owner and I’ll give him a go to complete the hat trick.

Good Shout Steve, apart from the drama at the start your horse was an emphatic winner, typical Mark Johnston sort game as a pebble.

Cheers, Usually I find it hard to catch the right one from the stable, who’s runners often have a form line that resembles a telephone number.

In tomorrow’s marathon Goodwood opener, I am hoping Orsippus can run well under Keiren Fallon at a track where he won some time ago on his only previous visit. A wide open contest of course, but at 10/1 (Stan James) I would expect he can be in the first four, given that he has run well before over similar stamina sapping trips.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

he’s going to have to do a lot more than that especially in recent weeks to prove he’s as good as people say.
So far, I’ve been left a little underwhelmed.

Bruce dear boy my record speaks for itself, you have probably only been reading my recent posts but if you delve into my past 4 years there’s been a fair few consistent big priced winners even as recently as this years Cheltenham festival, you are still new on here and could well be just a flash in the pan, time will tell but seeing how I’m still getting E-mails suggesting I’m having a laugh in that you are actually me in disguise then I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. If I wasn’t a little pre-occupied at the moment I would suggest we have a ‘Head to Head’ challenge that includes what I do best in picking long range Ante-Post wagers, you’ll see a different me in battle Soldier! Here’s 2 of my Cheltenham bankers,

    Darlan

, 2013 Champion hurdle winner still available at 16/1 and

    First Lieutenant

also 16/1 for the 2013 Gold Cup! Whats going to beat them Bruce? Or cant you think that far ahead!

Bruce – you are dealing with a LEGEND on this thread mate. Years of huge profits and big priced winners. If you are even half as good as him in the long run I will be amazed. One thing I will say though – you more than match his arrogance!

Joni, have you ever considered cheer leading as an occupation? given you’re tipping record or ability to find a winner it might be a useful adventure.

Mate – have you READ my thread?! Don’t think I am doing TOO bad!

Quite like the idea of being a cheerleader though – certainly the showers after anyway.

Well done to TAPK on finding a 5/4 winner but he’s going to have to do a lot more than that especially in recent weeks to prove he’s as good as people say.

So far, I’ve been left a little underwhelmed.

Bruce everyone on here already knows how good TAPK is, current poster of the year, would have been 2 years but Ginger had a funny five minutes and current 8/15 favourite for this year.

just for you Savage, I’ll leave a list of some of the ‘Legends’ past threads so you can have a gander at.

One bet yesterday and a nice runner up in Saint Jerome although not quite good enough, and know here near the place pot! In the first today despite messrs Henderson and Johnston having very strong contenders I believe last years runner up has been laid out and primed for this! Seaside Sizzler looks a very good EW bet :-)

GDC – I think the Lily joke was aimed at Bruce.
