Hi Snowy

Just popped in to see how the system was going.. looks like its taken a turn for the worse.. :o

Based on your analysis/review of the selection method(s) can you determine the reason for the change in fortune?

    ;)

In the words of Nick Mordin

Systems are like vampires, you bring them out into the daylight and they shrivel and die.. :o

Keep the faith! Remember it’s the performance over the long run that counts..
Q. Should I be going for more consistent wins by going for obvious selections with tighter dividends?

    A. No. This logic is the same as selecting favorites. Over time you will not win (i.e. dividends > £500). In addition, obvious selections = follow the crowd = low dividends. For the big hits you need to take an opposite view based on reasonable selection logic. For me the Tote Place-pot is ‘the’ best value bet in racing ;) given that for a small outlay there are potential big returns.. The fact that these are few and far between are part of the game.. :(

Losing runs are a fact of life whatever the betting method. If your method has served you well thus far.. why change it?

    Keep the faith …

I actually do calculate and use speed ratings in my selections. :o

My method uses my own data (obtained from the net and stored in a database) to determine the finishing time of all runners.. Using this data I determine the relative merit of one horse vs. another at various distances going etc based in time. As I said this is a raw rating as it makes no allowance for going conditions. For accurate speed ratings I supplement my data with those of a speed rating service and TOPSPEED in the racing post.

One word of advice … my limited experience has taught me that horse racing is an art and not a science. Use speed ratings blindly and you will line the pockets of bookies/punters..

You do need to use speed ratings along with other factors such as draw and preference for ground conditions etc and advice from MR E .. I’ve found his insights to be invaluable.

If you wish to understand the science of speed ratings I suggest you read “Mordin on Timeâ€ÂÂ

    Could assist me, simply question?

What is the bet way of describing this type of perm on a betting slip?

I’ve tried many times to explain to the counter girls at my local bookies  and I want to make sure that when (you) I land the big one :o , there is no confusion when they have to cough up the readies.

Firstly I have been following your system on and off for about 6 months now and I must stay that it is a work of pure genius! Especially given that as relative novice (started serious punting from Aug03), your system puts my selections methods (based on time honoured form study) to complete shame… :o

Anyway a question on the selection of the principle meeting.. A look at the prize money on offer for the 9th Jan meetings (source teletext racing site)

    Wolverhampton £30,125 total prize money
Ludlow £29258 total prize money..

However Ludlow was selected as the principle meeting of the day..

Have I got it wrong and could you confirm your method for selecting the principle meeting

    Cheers
