Hang on Groovy is shown as dead on the HRI list for 27th June, so she obviously received a fatal injury, poor girl. I’ve done an entry for her today.

Loved that, Joey had a good finishing burst. Heard about it being on a couple of months ago and have been waiting to see it. It is on BBC TV Monday evening, The One Show or something like that.

The owner/trainer has lost at least 4 horses since February all due to injury. If I remember correctly the other three are No Way Hozay, Blazing Bull and Digg Whittaker. RIP all of them :(

About a year ago I contacted David Austin Roses to ask if they would consider naming a new rose after Sir Henry.
I have spoken to them twice about this, and although I was told that there weren’t many new roses coming out each year, the suggestion would be put forward for consideration. I’ve heard nothing from them since, but I’ll have another go at them now.

So very sad, if not exactly unexpected.
    RIP Sir Henry.

I don’t know anything as yet, I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to find out but no info on Marco Botti’s website yet. It didn’t look good for her, can only keep fingers crossed!

I tried to watch the Sportling Life replays last night. Most of the races were replayed in fits and starts, the horses seeming to run several yards and then the film stopped before restarting again around ten seconds later.
One race, the 14.30 at Ripon, locked up completely when still ‘loading’ and I couldn’t shut my computer down either. In the end I just switched off at the plug.
Sporting Life frequently has the stop/start replays on and it’s very annoying!

Quite distressing seeing this young mare running on shaking her broken leg.
Not a good day for Wetherby races, condolences to all connections.
    RIP. :(

A bit of a blow to DBS, who must have been hoping for a bigger attendance tomorrow.

Such a shame, poor girl. Hope the foal will be alright, I assume it has been placed with a foster mother? Her owners only bought her at the end of last year and paid quite a lot of money for her. As has been said, it must be a heartbreak for them. RIP :(

From an early stage today Clare Balding had an agenda to put Sheikh Mohammed on the spot regarding the use of illegal drugs by one of his trainers. She kept oohing and aahing about how great it was to see him at the races but this was clearly false enthusiasm and the only thing on her mind was getting to pop the question. She tried earlier after Universal won, putting the squeeze on Mark Johnston for information about how Godolphin felt about recent events.

    Brilliant post!

Couldn’t agree more. I cringed. Not just then but when she asked Mark Johnston and also before the Guineas when she kept barging into huddles of jockeys, trainers and owners without even asking if they minded. I thought it was rude.

Totally agree, it was so rude. Let the owner enjoy the winning moment, no matter who they are.
I’m afraid for me Ms. Balding is just like a dog’s willy – gets in everywhere!
