HRI say (29/8) that On The Way Out was published as dead in error.
see report on Marshal Zhukov.
Update on Marshal Zhukov and Cannington Brook.
Cannington Brook was at home with his owners on his summer break when he managed to tread on a nail. It penetrated the joint and the tendon sheath in his hoof. After 3 general anaesthetics to try to control the infection it was decided there was no chance of recovery.
Marshal Zhukov was back in work with his trainer ready for the coming season. He was turned out each afternoon with his usual friends, and while he was out he managed to fracture his hind cannon bone. It is not known how he did this. His trainer is devastated, as are his owners, who had had both horses since they were three-year olds.
A very sad coincidence for both boys.
Not heard any more about this. Original report says one died of ‘an equine disease’ and the other died in the paddock after/during a storm. Not sure if they were both trained in the West Country, but don’t know anything about the owners.
You could try pedigreequery.com, Grand Orient is certainly on there.
Poor lad. RIP

RIP lad

Such a shame for both horses, and what incredible bad luck for the owners too.
RIP boys
Earlier report said that he had collapsed and fallen. Maybe he had a heart attack? RIP Lad

Reports show that St. Nicholas Abbey suffered a major setback during the night, suffering from severe colic. He has undergone emergency colic surgery this morning at Fethard Equine Hospital and the prognosis is ‘very guarded’ at the moment.
Hope he recovers, my favourite racehorse.
RIP lad

Reports on FB from Racing Post that he has been pts. RIP poor lad

Not heard/seen any confirmation of anything yet Mo. The race commentator said the horse had fallen- the horse had been caught by the jockey – the horse was on the ground – the horse was behind the screens (which were clearly visible when the horses went past on the next circuit) – things were not looking good for Galaxy Rock, we’ll keep you up to date and still nothing!
A report on FB saying Ponmeword had broken a shoulder, but no information for Pat Garrett. RIP Ponmeword

There is a report on FB the Ponmeword had broken a shoulder, but nothing on Pat Garrett so hopefully he is OK. RIP Ponmeword

Poor little fella, RIP baby

Ooops! Sorry about the error Blackgold. I’d written him on my list underneath Derg Princess (which was at Bellewstown) but never noted the change of course. Must be more careful in future!
