Oh dear dear, the poor old chap. I’m probably under fire for saying this as I don’t know the background circumstances etc, but why do owners not retire their horses before this age?. The report says he had been with his owner since he was a three year old, had he not done enought to earn a retirement? Too late now.

I always feel for the lass or lad that goes home with the empty horse box, it must be devastating for all concerned.
    He was obviously much loved.
A fitting tribute for a brave horse who gave his all … RIP :(

Agreed. My thoughts go to all concerned

Sorry I can’t remember which race it was, but I’d love to have been aboard Dessie when he took off outside the wing of the jump. Nearest thing to flying with a horse that I remember :)

    If intentional

If unintentional  , you have to press Control V at the same time

I did do, I followed the previous instructions to the letter but it didn’t work. I’ve got to the stage where I daren’t try again!!

That’s what I thought when I watched a few races this afternoon. What’s the point of half this rubbish? It must just be training in public. I’m starting to think there should only be racing a couple of days a week because most of this crap is an insult.

An insult to who? Not everybody is lucky enough to have the quality horses or the finances of the Smiths/Stewarts etc. There is room in racing for the ‘little guy’ who scrubs along with just a handful of moderate/poor horses, just a case of being restricted to the smaller meetings. I personally have more respect for these grafters. Surely every man can dream.
Sorry if this sounds rubbish to you, I’m not used to saying my piece and need a bit more practice.

Great display today, and everyone so happy about it. I just hope they retire him now and not push him too far. He’s nothing to prove now and I’d hate him to have a horrible accident racing.

……….However, the ones I like are Rag Dolls and I’m not sure they would kill anything.

My last cat was a Rag Doll, lovely fella, smashing temperament but no killer. I suppose, like people, they vary. You can borrow my Simon (present cat!) if you like. He savages everything that moves and is single-handedly decimating the local fauna.
    Good luck

I seem to be having a similar problem – but with spiders. I’ve never seen such big ones, even the cat is wary. They are bigger than Willie Carson!

Poor little thing. Another life ended before it’s started. My sympathies to all concerned

Just hope she makes the grade as a broodmare. I seem to recall several great mares of their times being kept in racing until they were older and then producing nothing of note.
