He wouldn’t run in both the queen mum and the gold cup, that’s ridiculous. This isn’t the age of flying bolt.

Ha Ha! It would be great to see it tried though.

It would be interesting if SS were to go for the Gold Cup. There is no doubt Barry would ride him in the King George, but would he get off Bob’s Worth to ride SS in a Gold Cup? Given he bred Bob’s Worth, it would be a difficult decision. I think he would side with SS, simply for the fact that he is the best and Barry would be part of racing history, should he go on and win it.

I’m sure there would be a lot of punters lumping on at dream odds, were he to be entered. All the talk from Nicky and Barry though is against this happening, although Caroline Mould hasn’t ruled it out.

I agree with everything written above. He looks like he could go right to the top.
Its a shame that he looks like he may lose the ride on Our Conor though.

Have to agree with you on this one. I really like this horse and it will be interesting to see if Danny Mullins gets the same out of him. My Champion Hurdle money is staying in my pocket for the time being.

I have backed him at 9/2 to win the King George. Bob’s Worth won’t be in it, Cue Card has even more doubt about his staying 3 miles than Sprinter Sacre does, as he has had a go already, albeit in heavy ground and the rest aren’t even close.

They will need to prove that he is better than Arkle and therefore the greatest of all time. To do this he must win the Queen Mother on the Wednesday and the Gold Cup on the Friday, this will end all speculation and argument. Or will it? Maybe he’ll have to win the National as well.

Don’t rule out Sprinter Sacre going for a Queen Mother-Gold Cup double. Caroline Mould was interviewed on ‘At The Races’, talking about the step up to 2 1/2 miles and Matt was pushing her about the possibility of stepping up to 3 miles. She didn’t discount it. He will definitely go for the King George, as Bob’s Worth doesn’t go right handed and should he skate up again, the Gold Cup on the Friday, after an easy win in the Champion, will be very tempting.

It is time for the doubters to be quietened. Free your mind, accept the obvious and rejoice in his ability.

I’m not even sure that he couldn’t add the Grand National, to make it a treble.

I don’t think SS would have any problem getting 3m round Kempton, especially with good going and if he won by 15 lengths on the bridle, the Gold Cup too would be at his mercy.

Although Our Conor was the one of the most impressive winners of the whole week (second only to Sprinter), i wouldn’t be drawn in to the hype surrounding his Champion Hurdle claims.
It’s clear that he is a really fluent and quick jumper, but i feel that the form of the race was misleading.

    1) Only two horses got into the race, and that was Diakali who made the running and Our Conor, who admittedly received a good ride.

    2) The ground was definitely in his favour. It had rained for about 15 minutes before the off so the ground was slower than the advertised good to soft, soft in places. The placings were filled by horses suited by slow ground.

    3) Look through Our Conor’s career form, all recognised form is on ground varying from heavy to yielding. The only piece of form on good ground was when he was 9th on his 2-y-o debut. He hasn’t run on quicker ground since.

    To summarise :

I wouldn’t be backing Our Conor, unless he proves himself on faster ground than what he’s won on so far. Of course, he’s a fantastic talent and is a slick jumper, but if he comes back to Cheltenham, where it should be good ground and he hasn’t run well on the faster turf then he has no chance.

Dessie Hughes says Our Conor will be better on good ground. I don’t think you can use any flat form when determiming his chances of winning the Champion Hurdle, as it is his hurdling ability that makes him stand out. Remember he is only a 4-y-o, can you remember a 4-y-o that hurdled this good? With just slight improvement, he will win the Champion Hurdle and the 5-y-o statistic, does not apply to this horse, as he is streets ahead of any hurdler of his age.

Sprinter Sacre was outstanding, although it was expected. He is the best chaser I have ever seen and only Arkle is anywhere near him. Although, even Arkle ran straight through a fence in the Gold Cup once, something you could never see Sprinter Sacre doing.

Our Conor was extremely impressive, but again, easily predictable, after his Leopardstown run (where he slaughtered Diakali, without even breaking sweat). This horse has the Champion Hurdle at his mercy. Simply the best 4-y-o hurdler ever, only Hurricane Fly can match his hurdling ability and should Our Conor improve his fluidity over the obstacles, he will be untouchable for a good few years.

Well it looks like Flemenstar is out of Cheltenham completely. Seems he had a lung infection.

Can’t decide on this race at the moment, so have done Captain Chris e.w. until I do. He goes well at Cheltenham and is coming back to form, so I’m hopeful of a big run. Probably won’t win, but worth a punt. I do like the look of SDC, but also Bob’s Worth is very good at Cheltenham. Also can’t rule out Long Run and Silviniaco Conti.Oh and if I were the Caseys, I would run Flemenstar in the Gold Cup. The reasons being: if he goes in the Champion, he will be made to look extremely average by SS and the Ryanair is ridiculously competetive. I don’t think it is beyond the realms of possibility, that he could go out in front, bowl along into a good lead and rocking horse his way to the finish line, before they could catch him.

this is shaping like a dire renewal for me. i’m struggling to think of a four year old which has impressed me over hurdles, which is the complete opposite of the supreme.

with the market principals looking so vulnerable, it looks like the kind of completely open race which could throw up a 66-1 shock

    Our Conor

I thought that was a pretty soft race the other day, and would be more than happy to take on our connor at cheltenham, though I could well be wrong.

I just thought Our Conor was ridden very confidently and is impressively built, for a hurdler. I also thought he jumped very well for a 4-y-o. This race is notoriously difficult to pick the winner of, but this looks the best horse I have seen and he battled very well to the line in his previous race, so he’s no quitter.

    Hi MarkTT,

You are right. Chatterbox is the representative for the Henderson stable. Still be a big ask for Lac Fontana to beat him given his thumping of My Tent Or Yours. Still hopeful of a big run though!!

Chatterbox is 5. Supreme Novices and a big price!

Good performance from My Tent Or Yours, but way too short for the Supreme. Easily beaten by another Henderson horse Chatterbox, who is also entered in the Supreme and can’t see that that performance is any better than anything Jezki has done. People seem to be influenced by the owner as much as anything. This race is still wide open.

Sprinter Sacre has done nothing wrong in all his chases so far, that cannot be denied. He is the most impressive jumper of all time, including Arkle, that cannot be denied. As to who would win a race between the two? Well Sprinter Sacre would probably win over 2 miles and Arkle over 3.

It’s just fantastic to be able to watch this horse in action and as Arkle did in the 60’s, he just takes your breath away. They just amaze in different ways. Sprinter Sacre with his natural jumping ability and Arkle with his endless stamina and weight carrying ability.

PS. I would just like to point out that Paul Nicholls seems to need some sort of speech therapy, as he can’t pronounce the letter ‘S’. When asked, on the ‘Morning Line’, which horse he would like to train, that he didn’t already have. He said, ‘The New One’, who promptly got turned over. Really Paul? Really?

There doesn’t appear to be any chinks in Sprinter Sacre’s armour at all now. He handles any going, any tactics and any type of course. He is also, without doubt, the best looking chaser you will ever see. For once the cameras nearly caught just how magnificent this horse looks in the flesh.

Printersraces, have you looked at his 2 mile form yourself? :?

Since losing his first race over fences to Bog Warrior, he has ran over 2m or 2m 1f four times, winning easily on each occasion. The horse can only beat what’s put in front of him surely? He has yet to be hard pressed over the minimum trip.

I don’t think you can say he beat Lambro easily, he was fully extended and whipped, to win by 3 1/2 lengths. I just think that over 2 miles he has a lot to prove against Sizing Europe. Also he has never run outside of Ireland and Cheltenham is not your run of the mill course, so will he handle it? There’s another question mark.
