Jeremy?? is that you?
Where did you find this stat? I never realized that I could be the third!
Thanks for all of your support! Johannesburg Star WILL be in the triple crown–God willing!
How did you find this site?!?
Yes it’s me Joe! I had to phone your owner to conratulate him, after the 102 Beyer, because your phone was too busy!
I did some research and since World War I these Afro-Caribbean trainers have had Derby starters
Raymond White 1932 and 1944
Edison "Ned" Gaines 1951
Hank Allen 1989 who came 6th with Northern Wolf
Is the Whirlaway the next start? I’ll be in the US but at a wedding on the 10th unfortunately.
If you win the Derby i’m writing your biography…..

Jockey Club Gold Cup
Hard Spun also still has it all to do just to qualify for the Derby. None of his 4 career starts have been graded so that means that currently he’s behind a wall of horses who amassed Graded earnings last year.
It looks like he might run in the Louisiana Derby en route to the Kentucky Derby but he’ll have 1 start before the Louisiana race and that will either be back at Fair Grounds in the Risen Star on Feb 10th or at Oaklawn in the Southwest on the 19th
Imperial Call
I think expanding the event is a good idea but wonder if it was a mistake having this expansion at a new BC track and one that isn’t going to allow walk-ins on BC day isn’t a good idea.
I hope they allow walk-ins on the Friday. If their intention is to p**s
the local fans and community off…..2 of the 3 new dirt races have to be run at the wrong distance and will the Juvenile Turf attract our top class horses. Last year there was a 3 week gap between Dewhurst and BC-this year it’s 1 week.

The dirt mile doesn’t make sense, the Cigar will likely be run 2 weeks or less after the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile and there’s only 3 top races a year (the other’s at the end of May). This race seems pointless at this time of year, would be better running this and trying to switch the Cigar Mile to a meet in August.
The Cigar is 4 weeks after the Breeders’ Cup (this year)
A mix of British and American presenters. Of the Americans I’d go for Frank Lyons and a young girl who does interviews for TVG called Christina.
Jerry Bailey’s also made a good start to his TV career
For handicapping analysis-i would actually go for someone who does no TV but plenty of radio in Australia-Peter Ellis- I doubt that there’s anyone anywhere in the world that spends more time going racing, studying form etc.
Don’t think that any of those looked like Derby material but at least Johannesburg Star ran well enough to stay on the trail and should run in the Whirlaway S in 5 weeks time-but Joe’s chances of being only the 3rd Afro-American trainer to saddle a Derby runner, since 1944, have been diminished.
Johannesburg Star runs tomorrow at Aqueduct in the Count Fleet S.
Hard Spun won again on the 18th and runs at The Fair Grounds in the Lecomte S. on the 13th before being campaigned at Oaklawn Park
The Green Monkey seems to be doomed never to run.

There still seems to be a lot of movement of tracks between TVG and HRTV. TVG has just lost Oaklawn to HRTV.
However for me-the main thing is the ability to see the Aqueduct and Belmont Parkmeets and be in a strong position for Saratoga-which is something that hasn’t been possible for 2 years
Will miss Barry F and a couple of his mates. Not much else.
Oaklawn Park over the weekend of Feb 17/18/19-where hopefully Hard Spun will win the Southwest S. and become favourite for the Kentucky Derby.
Quote: from Maxilon 5 on 1:20 pm on Dec. 22, 2006[br]The Cheltenham executive are clearly up on their micro-economics. ÂÂÂ
Cheltenham tickets are Giffen goods, where demand increases in line with increased price as consumers attach their own added value to ownership of the ticket. (Snob/exclusivity value, or "I was there" value). They’ll rise next year too.
I have to agree with Pengamon. American horse racing is THE best sporting value available. It’s unbelievable, like paying two and six to see your local football team donkeys back. In some cases, (Delaware Park), it’s free.
There are a lot of American tracks that I would actually need to be given money to go to-after visiting once for the novelty value-Delaware Park isn’t one of them. The racing is good and you never know if you’re going to go there and see a top class horse making their debut-Afleet Alex and Barbaro both started there.
I guess there is a price that i’m prepared to pay to a British track in order to have the ability to duel with the on-course bookmakers but it isn’t the £80 Cheltenham wants, whatever Royal Ascot wants now and whatever priced Newmarket wanted to share the racecourse with a load of drunken hoodlums on 2000 Guineas day-which was the last day I set foot on a British racecourse-with the exception of a free day on July Cup day.
Selling my house in Newmarket and buying a shoebox in Saratoga is the best thing i’ve ever done-and the £ gained 5 cents against the $ in the week before the deal closed!
Thank god I now only go racing in the US and France.
£65 for the 1st 3 days £80 for Gold Cup day for Members. They are apparently only 12,000 down, at the same point, on last year.
Personally I’ll stick with Saratoga. Whatever you think of American racing-and Saratoga’s the best there is-I can get 7 Club House passes for the whole meet as I could go to Cheltenham for 4 days.
Is free-ringtone-s a member here? I voted for him/her in the Poster of The Year award at an American racing site. It was a close between one of the viagra salespeople and mort-gag-es-fur-you
Is Collier Hill the 1st horse to pick up 3 cheques of a $Million or more in one season?
It may have been done by a Japanese horse but possibly nowhere else
