Light drizzle and 3c here in Middlesbrough at the moment so maybe there’s light at the end of the tunnel…
I’m surprised/disappointed that Kempton have called off Saturday already especially with it being a higher profile meeting. We all know how volatile weather patterns are in this country these days so could they not have given it more chance with milder weather forecast for later in the week?
Kelso on Friday or Warwick on Saturday look to be the only hopes for us NH fans at the moment

Stablemate Aran Concerto also appears to have disappeared again

Very impressive and what a fine specimen as well.
Thought he’d go for the Scilly Isles (Best Mate route). BM would have cantered up in that Arkle as well!
Great race and it silences people who thought he was being overraced last season for financial reasons.
Looked like such a happy horse after the race

I’m convinced that earlier in December they advertised that they were showing Newbury/Leopardstown tomorrow but no sign of any coverage…
I’ve just had a look at that YouTube link and what a joke it is. Quite incredible (but typical) that they choose to showcase the downside of this great sport.
Video quality is awful as well compared to other things that you can watch on the site, music videos etc…
Ideally they’d create a video library on there or on a dedicated site and offer free replays of all races that took place before say, Jan 1 2007. For example its ludicrous that to watch Moscow Flyer’s 2nd Champion Chase win, I would have to pay 20p on the RP site. Haven’t got a problem with them charging for recent action, although that’s not ideal either.
Why cant they do proper split screens (i.e. 50% of your television screen) instead of small windows? With maybe a large stripe down the middle to avoid confusion… Need my binos for some of the races!
Mind you I wasnt impressed with some of C4’s angles today, much prefer the old one they used to use for the island fences at Kempton (RUK still use it) rather than the one up the inside.
Half the field were out of sight for a while (must be annoying for non Kauto backers) as the camera was up Kauto’s nose!
Simon Holt is my favourite of the current generation and he’ll say things like ‘Inglis Drever is off the bridle but we’ve seen him hit a flat spot before’ and it all adds to the drama IMO.
Lee McKenzie is one of the unsung ones that I like listening to but I think he gets a bit of criticism elsewhere so I’m not sure what the general opinion is.
Aussie Jim and Dessie Scahill are tired and just go through the motions for me, neither should be in the high profile positions they’re in.
Nah we’re mainly just discussing the horse here rather than the race.
I wanted to see TB run in the KG but it’s just as well he didn’t after another puzzling performance today.
I suppose it was still a decent run on paper giving weight to a very promising winner but it was certainly not the TB we all know so is he falling out of love with the game or is there a physical problem perhaps?
I’m a PN fan but I think he’s contadicted himself about KS on a number of occasions –
– before he recovered from races straight away now he needs a good break
– he used to be easy to get fit (Denman was the difficult one) now he suddenly needs loads of work
– he needs to go left handed (7 Grade Ones right-handed)
– ran him in two Tingle Creeks yet he now wont run again over 3m at Haydock because its too much of a speed test etc etc
Maybe the horse has changed with age but I’m not so sure. I still think he could finish ahead of all but Master Minded over 2m if he was in the form he was today.
They ran him at Aintree because finishing a good season with a perfomance like that in the GC was rather unsatisfactory. They hardly needed the extra 90k for god’s sake. And then they ran him at Haydock because that’s the logical place for a leading staying chaser to go these days – he’d won it twice before as well obviously. I think he would have scraped home there had he stood up so we wouldn’t be having these arguments but we’ll never know.
Mid-late 170’s perfomance today ratings wise lads?
Albertas is just the type I can see running on for a place in a Gold Cup after looking in trouble earlier on.
I’m a big Kauto fan but I’m a NH fanatic so even I’d like to see Denman win impressively in the AON to set up a proper rematch. I think its an excellent idea to keep Kauto fresh and I just pray we get decent ground on the day this time…
Its just great that he is still at the top for me though as he could quite easily have flopped this season after all those hard races last year and again today after his Betfair mishap but once again he has stood up when it matters.
In 2008 he’s won 3 Grade Ones and been 2nd in a Gold Cup yet he’s supposedly on the wane!
Am I the only person who has got a constant ‘clicking’ noise on RUK today?
Awesome!!!
I was just a tad worried when he was slightly wrong at one early on the final circuit and Ruby seemed to be niggling but like last year he appeared there absolutely cruising and the home straight was a lap of honour for the third year running!
I pray he stays right until March and hopefully we’ll get decent ground this time…
Very poor that Tidal Bay isn’t going to turn up, had a serious chance IMO.
I’d half understand them if they were were saving him for other targets but to run him in a Wetherby h’cap over further on the same day? Beats me.
