    Thanks for replies!

Hasn’t there been DNA-tests on the skeleton of Eclipse recently? (Concerning the C/T-gene-combination which should have some meaning on the genetical preposition of a sprinter/miler/stayer-type of a horse.)

So a skeleton composed by relics of different individuals should have been discovered.

    Questions over questions ….

Why was it a "slowly run" Arc?

The going was on the soft side and all races that day were "slowly run" therefore – far away from their record-times.

You might be right, but here is Novellist coming from behind in a race where he was found infected and not as his best at the day afterwards. Well, Pastorius – a 10 f horse – beated him in the end, but what does it matter under these circumstances:

It took Novellist only a couple of strides and a slight turn of foot to win at Baden-Baden 5 weeks ago.

    Great write up by bosranic.

Treve – Superstar ! That was incredible.

Standing yesterday at the Longchamp-parade-ring some 5 meters above the ground I thought to myself: “

What is this – who is this magnificent looking horse No. 18? Oh, it is Treve. And where is ROTW? Oh, sorry, it’s this rather common looking horse.

Well, we have seen a great horse Treve in a great race which reproduced the splendid form of the top 4 placed horses. There is no fluke-appeal as it is in preceding year’s edition of this race.

Well, where would have been Novellist? Excuse my simple and a bit chauvinistic view. Novellist showed a solid form this year, is there a reason but bad luck not reproducing his form and class yesterday what at least the first 4 at the post did? Well, unlikely that he would have beaten Treve in yesterday’s race. But those 5 to 7 lengths behind that filly? Yes, he should have ranked there behind 1st and in front of the 4th.

Altano gave trainer Wöhler and jockey Pedroza a little compensation in the Cadran that afternoon. But is this a consolation?

A sound Novellist is due to run in the Japan Cup in this moment. Most likely his last race, if it hasn’t already been at Baden-Baden.

So the historic trend is continuing: German and Japanese horses might be good enough for this race, but are not lucky and happy in this very race.

Walk on, walk on, though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on, and with hope in your heart …

Meanwhile I could find all those 667 mares of Derby-runners’ birth-years – but one: Rina’s Tale, the dam of Grand Orient.

Is anybody out there to tell me Rina’s Tale’s year of birth?

    Thank you so much!

Thank you very much to all of you who supported me!

    And so quickly, too.

Special thanks to @Adrian, who shares a database I haven’t known so far.

Thank your for all your support concerning this matter!

The last horse in this sample, whose parents I can’t find is:

    Fitzwarren

    , who was 10th in Golden Fleece’s Derby 1982.

    Thanks alot! :D

Never mind, but "your" "Derby" is referred as "Epsom Derby" in that little rest of the World outside Britain.

And you had an "Ascot Derby", a "Northern Derby" in earlier times, even a "New Derby" during war-times at Newmarket.

Thanks. Well, PQ is one of the first databasis where I’m used to search. PQ knows a certrain Grand Orient, born 1981 – but this is the wrong one.

Believe me: I wouldn’t ask for horses here, if I haven’t found them otherwise. So it’s a challenge for this community ! :?

And there are another two unknown to me out of Shergar’s Derby:

    – Krug
    – Waverley Hall

And now even Petit Chevalier beats Cirrus des Aigles at Deauville in a G3-race!

After backing the fast finishing Altano at ascot and being not entirely happy with how he was ridden, ill have to be talked off a high ledge if he wins here. In reality its probably a litte too short for him and not sure the track will suit. …

Well, I’m not overconfident after Novellist’s dream-come-true-success from Saturday, but Altano was 5th of 14 in the Gold Cup after an indifferent ride and has a good chance to run better at Goodwood now.

… German racing is clearly on the up, what is great to see. Just hoping that German racing at home can capitalize from this as well, as the industry there is on the ground.

Without tv no sponsors, no sponsors without tv. A restrictiv new law on betting and gambling … and no ideas from the administration and the management of the sport for more than 10 years by now.

Well, Dr Berglar owns a stud in Kentucky, Dr Jacobs has studs in GB and South-Africa, Mr Ostermann and Baron Ullmann are happy to sell their foregone classic-hopes at Tattersalls for NH-purposes => the direction is obvious.

    I`ll keep my fingers crossed!

As your Sir Chris Hoy said (concerning another event): "

It is unlikely, but not impossible

    …"

What a compensation this would be for passionate owner-breeder Dr Berglar, too, after his bad luck in the German Derby 2012 (Novellist) and 2013 (Nuntius, Protectionist).

Over here, we can read this:

    http://www.galopp-online.de/service/new … 1&id=27167

It says that only 10 of the last 21 KGQE-winners competed in same year’s Arc and only 2 of these 10 won the Arc.

You might imagine that I´m very proud over this success!

After 60 years of disappointing runs of German-trained horses in that very race now they have done it 2 years running at Ascot.

And now German-trained (and bred) horses hold the track-records in the Arc (Danedream) and the KGVII&QE – unbelievable.

Be assured: Novellist is even better on softish going.

Listen we can and will debate over whether he was the absolute greatest.

Frankel was unbeaten and unbeatable. Even when the conditions were massively AGAINST him and massively IN FAVOUR of the 2nd best horse in the world. Even when he missed the break. Even when his jockey went two furlongs too early. Even when he pulled like a train. Even when he was bumped and set alight. HE ALWAYS WON.

Never any need for excuses. He always did what you knew he would do. Frankel runs, Frankel wins. Simple.

That’s the reason why I’m so sad, he didn’t compete and win the Arc.
After that, there would be no debate concerning his greatness ever.
