July 30, 2013 at 16:09 #446961I haven’t given up on Colour Vision either.
July 31, 2013 at 08:10 #447030After backing the fast finishing Altano at ascot and being not entirely happy with how he was ridden, ill have to be talked off a high ledge if he wins here. In reality its probably a litte too short for him and not sure the track will suit. So lets go with this.
1) Brown Panther
2) Mount Athos (not handling the track)
3) CaucusSHL

Well, I’m not overconfident after Novellist’s dream-come-true-success from Saturday, but Altano was 5th of 14 in the Gold Cup after an indifferent ride and has a good chance to run better at Goodwood now.

3) CaucusIm changing my mind now. Think Mount Athos will beat the other two. In fact, he really could be a completely different class and the current 7/2 might look like a steal. I dont get too despondent over losers but it will hurt just a little if Altano can win this after being let down at Ascot. I hope he runs well though for German racing

August 1, 2013 at 14:39 #447216Well that was interesting. The disappointment was the favorite. Almost looked like he wasnt that stoute a stayer ?
Nice that it means so much to the connections of the winner.
I would take Altano out this for the Prix de Cadran. He needs further than 2 miles although perhaps he may always be prone to getting outpaced at vital times.

August 1, 2013 at 15:09 #447218A very tame effort from Mount Athos and it looks like 2 miles is beyond his best trip. He beat Brown Panther by over 3 lengths around about this time last year, off level weights in the Geoffrey Freer and the three furlongs further to travel today would seem a good reason to explain the big negative turn around with him today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
