The only novices to win this race are Make A Stand and Large Action. They both went on to feature prominently in the Champion Hurdle. Whether Medermit is up to that is guesswork at the moment. The fact he doesn’t have handicap experience is also a negative.

I’m surprised nobody has yet mentioned this race. I have a strong feeling for Medermit here and just wondered if anyone agreed with me.

While it was good to see Brave Inca showing the younger generation how to do it I was disappointed with the ride Muirhead got. Why the jockey didn’t go through with his challenge when approaching the last was beyond me, It was obvious the horse was going very well and yet he held it back. Take nothing away from the winner though.

I have Follow The Plan as my top rated horse here with Forpaddydeplasterer a close second. FTP is consistent, should handle the ground and will like the trip. F is a class act and won’t go down without a fight but I will side with FTP in the hope there is still more to come from him.

Having had a look at this race I have to go with Muirhead and Sublimity as my two against the field. I do like the look of Muirhead though, he will act on the ground, is improving and I think has a fair chance here. A big race looks on the cards to me and if I do bet it will probably be on him although I would have a saver on Sublimity.

    Hi Guys,
Watched a programme on ATR over Christmas which was filmed at Harry Findlays house. It was a decent programme for a change and Findlay waxed lyrical about Denman. One thing he was adamant about though and stated on camera was that Denman WILL win the Grand National. There were no ifs or buts but a definite statement. With the rumours now circulating about Denman it could be Findlay was giving everyone prior notice to get on.

Connections are obviously going for this. I see AP McCoy is going to ride which is hard on Thomas but probably better for the horse. I also am a Tidal Bay fan but have to agree that I think he needs further than this 2m. If Master Minded is on top of his game, and it would be foolish to run him if his trainer didn’t think he was, then he should win this.

Well, I’ve read all the postings, looked through the race and still have:
    Island Flyer
    Dear Villez
    Always Waining.
I think the last named is well overpriced here, I suppose the going has to be taken into account with him as he wouldn’t want any more rain.
Dear Villez, has never won on anything faster than soft which is a concern but hopefully the GS forecast may suit. Any further rain would help him.
Island Flyer, seems to have his ground, loves the track and is improving with each race. He would seem to have an excellent chance here.

At the moment for this race I have a short list of 4. They are:
    Dear Villez
    Always Waining
    Parson’s Legacy
    Island Flyer.
Now we have the 5 day decs its worth looking closer. Thursday we should have the final decs but I would be surprised if the above don’t run. Of course the weather may have a say in all this.
