The idea of ‘super’ group 1’s is frought with danger IMHO. Each country/zone has its pride. The Melbourne Cup is a hcp, ALL Derbys are age restricted. The Arc is restricted too if I’m not mistaken…

Simenon is now guaranteed a start. 22nd in order of entry. Can only be pushed down to 24 after Saturday’s racing. Really looking forward to the Cup this year, a very open affair. For what it’s worth I like Mt Athos (especially with C.Williams aboard. No offense Ryan Moore), Verema & Masked Marvel. I give true chances to another 8 though..

Was looking for a form guide to study & thought I’d check to see if Miss Woodford had posted. Thank you so much!

These are the same fools who, in their report, claimed that $40 million was bet on an A-League game from Asia. They were red faced last week when it was found that they had forgot to convert from HKD to AUD so the $40 million became around $5 million. The country is run by idiots.

The Black Flash on the other hand is something to behold. Best horse I’ve seen in the flesh. I can remember the day that Special set the record in the 88 Lightning, there was a huge tailwiind, probably wouldn’t be legal if it was the Olympics. To break that record was amazing, pulling up at the end too. Great stuff.

BHison2 from what I hear that would be part of the plan – to breed her to southern hemisphere time.. Id still say it is a long shot though. She may not race on beyond today..

Regressing by the time of your 4yo year? It’s called an excuse. Not even 100% mature by then. Regression? I don’t think so.

Has anyone considered the possibility that it was So You Think that never came up or performed to his best last year? This excuse has been bandied around for Workforce. The problem with Workforce was he won a weak Derby & a weak Arc as a 3yo. Once he had to carry weight he wasn’t the same. Maybe he matured earlier than other horses and they "caught him" by his 4yo year, who knows.

SYT had to travel 12,000 miles to a different hemisphere. Did he acclimatize? His trainer has freely admitted to botching up his campaign last year, he should have known better.

How many horses had a tougher campaign than SYT did last year? A cosy win in a weak G3 & G1 in Ireland. A 2nd beaten a head at RA after being left like a sitting duck a long way out. A win against the reigning Derby & Arc hero when, again, not given any favours. A tough G1 win in Ireland against a top class mare who "had him" at the 300m but he kept pulling out plenty. A creditible 4th in the Arc, thrashing the likes of Workforce & SNA and just being touched off by SF with whom, if the barriers were reveresed, their positions may have too. Let’s throw in the after thoughts of the new 2000m G1 when 2nd behind CDA & beating home SF again (who was unlucky), and the ludicrous decision to run in the BCC on DIRT, not all weather, where he again tired at the end for 6th. So after that idiotic decision, let’s start his current term in the DWC on the Tapeta!! Again, 4th, another creditible performance.

He has just won the GC for the 2nd year running, easier than he did last year. He has never dodged or shirked a challenge. Is he a wonder horse? No, but you’d be a fool to believe he was, he wasn’t even a wonder horse in his homeland! And don’t come at me with the Aussies saud this & that. You don’t rate what any of us say on here anyway so why would you selectively believe those statements?

We’re also talking about a horse that had won 2 Cox Plates by his 10th start, something Black Caviar or Frankel didn’t & couldn’t match. A horse that did DID train on at 4 and DID cope with the increase in weight.

    His race record…

    22 starts

    13 wins (9 x Open WFA G1, 1 x Open WFA G2, 1 x Open WFA G3, 1 x 3yo G3, 1 x 2yo NMW)

    4 seconds (3 x Open WFA G1, 1 x 3yo Listed)

    1 third (Melbourne Cup)

2 fourths (Arc & Dubai World Cup)

    1 fifth (Caulfield Guineas)

    1 sixth (Breeder’s Cup Classic)

There isn’t a horse racing anywhere currently with a record that compares…

I for one hope that he races Frankel. Do I think that he’ll beat Frankel? He probably won’t, though to race against him he’ll probably have to drop back to a mile. One thing is for sure, Frankel will know he’s been in a race not just ground hog day against Excelebration.

He is a champion in every sense of the word!

    Thats’ my 2 cents!

Geez, I’m an Aussie & I stayed up to watch Frankel the other night. He’s an excitement machine. Nothing like watching top class horses run!

I can understand frustration but not boredom. We’ve been going through that with Black Caviar too. A lot of her top competition refuse to race against her anymore thus her last couple of wins have been against far inferior horses. I hope that you guys don’t suffer the same fate with Frankel but it is heading that way….

Didn’t SYT beat WF home in the Arc too? That’s 12f isn’t it?

The Goodwood "handicap" in Adelaide is a "set weights with penalties" race that has a maximum top weight. It is not a "true" handicap type race.

I don’t think that there is any doubt that Frankel would start favourite in the scenario TAPK, especially in the UK. I’ve no doubt that Black Caviar would start favourite on Oz totes. Interesting to see how the Oz Corporate Bookmakers would frame their markets. IMO the one that started the longer price would be value.

I’m not familiar with the 1400m at York. I read an interesting article on the Racing Post website re a 1400m match race at Goodwood as that is a "downhill" run (?)

In all her 21 starts, I’ve never seen Black Caviar extended & ridden out to the line, that’s not saying that she’s never given her all, I’ve just never seen the jockey ask for it.

Would be a clash to savour.

Who would win? I honestly don’t know, I’d like to think that Black Caviar would but the colt is also outstanding and I think that either should class it as an honour for being involved in such a race. There have been match races over the years, the most famous I know of is Sea Biscuit & War Admiral but has there ever been one with 2 champions from different hemispheres?

    Exciting times ahead either way.

I know why Black Caviar is coming to Ascot .To face new challengers. But why is Frankel coming to Ascot? To entertain the Queen? To beat the same horses for the fifth time? To gain more prestige? Please enlighten me.

Actually I think the Cav is coming to Ascot because the owners like the idea of getting all toffed up and having a bit of a shindig in England.

I think you’re right AIC, whaich is a shame that the owners are making about them & not the horse. She has nothing to prove in the UK. Here opponents are below par. They should be concentrating on Hong Kong & should’ve gone to Dubai.

Frankel was awesome on Saturday, probably the best miler ever.
BUT to be a great horse you have to win the GREAT races. The Derby, the King George, The Arc, the American Triple Crown.
He has nothing left to prove at a mile and should be moved up in trip right now.

Sorry befair, just had to pick you up on an error you made. You said great races then put in 4 races which are restricted. That doesn’t make sense. I’ll agree that the King george & the Arc are great races.

I didn’t think Excelebration had a tough run at all, oh, apart from trying to beat Frankel. To me he had the favours, sat behind Frankel, waited fro Frankel to move before he made his move, not good enough.

Frankel looked great to me, even from "12,000 miles away". He won just as I expected him to.

Why the concern with Frankel re the rest of HC’s stable? Can’t see the correlation, he’s a world apart from every other horse in your part of the world.
