Are there any statistics or reports of adverse affects of this vacine? I am asking out of total ignorance, but speaking personally if this had been available when I was younger I would have chosen to have it.

As with other vaccines, side effects such as a sore arm, redness and minor swelling at the site of injection and a mild temperature may occur. There are no known serious or adverse side-effects as a result of having the vaccine.
The vaccine is safe and has undergone rigorous safety testing as part of the licensing process required to be used in the UK and other European countries. Detailed safety testing through extensive pre-clinical testing and in clinical trials is a requirement for licensing.

HPV stands for human papillomavirus. There are over 100 types of human papillomavirus but only 13 of them are known to cause cancer. The others are harmless or cause conditions like genital warts. Infection by HPV is common and at least half of all sexually active women are infected by a strain of genital HPV in their lifetimes. HPV is transmitted through intimate sexual contact including, but not limited to, sexual intercourse.

Most infections clear by themselves, but in some people the infection can persist. Although HPV infection is usually symptom free, it can damage the lining of the cervix. Persistent infection can cause abnormalities of the cervix, which, if left undetected and untreated, can cause cervical cancer. Two particular strains of HPV, types 16 & 18, cause over 70% of all cervical cancers in the UK.

Thanks SD, so that means it could be/ would be effective for older women to have it also if free of any pre cancerous cells?

I would never not buy a poppy either as our family lost relatives in both WWs, and have friends who have fought in more recent conflicts, but even if that wasn’t the case, I buy them for all the others I have no personal knowledge of. I know that without their efforts and sacrifices, we wouldn’t have the freedom we have today which some take so for granted, and some choose to abuse at the slightest opportunity. At the same time I think there is something seriously wrong when people are struggling to make ends meet after having served their country, whilst others seemingly just hold out their hands and are given everything on a plate.

I thought it was just what they wanted – a clear round and he wasn’t tested and looked like he was enjoying himself. No mistakes was a confidence boost he needed, if that’s what they think he needed. I just hope that come March he hasn’t had a hard season, Ruby rides him closer to the action and it’s a race up the hill. I still think he can take Denman and hope he gets the chance to try being 100%.

Isn’t he a darling of a horse?. He’s not big but all guts. I always worry watching him that he comes back okay and thought he looked tired at the second last but tried so hard . Such a shame the line came too soon for him.

I’m not sure we should be promoting on here the sites of the person involved with this one as she is long since banned from here and is quite frankly a menace.

I don’t know who or what you are talking about or whether it has any relevance to the intent of my post. I found the website whilst looking for something else. ‘Promotion’ did not come into it. I thought it might be of interest to ‘andythornton’

I am half way through reading this and it seems some have had a wind operation even though not proven they have/had a breathing problem? Wouldn’t mind being his vet. A retired racehorse I know well was given a wind op by his last trainer, but he had no record of breathing problems previously being recorded or voiced by his previous trainers, and it made no difference at all. I think by that stage of his career his owners were ‘clutching’.

Depends on an individual’s interpretation of ‘new’ but she’s hardly that. Been around for a while and doing okay.

the vaccine is for 14 year olds but at some point be given to girls up to 18; once girls become sexually active they may be carrying the virus anyway..there is a possibility that it could be given to boys at some point as they can carry it without [obviously] developing cancer.[don’t quote me on this, it’s only my interpretation of what I was told].

thanks Moehat – anything in the literature about it controlling the virus at all? For older women that is who potentially may have it?

Think of it as a pointless bit of bureaucracy to keep some nice young white middle class graduate girl busy, prior to her giving it up as a career to settle down and have kids with a farmer back in her home town.

    quite.

. Its big brother via the back door if you’ll pardon the expression.

Wouldn’t that mean ticking the box marked ‘incest’ ?

Nope – that wasn’t one of the four choices either…like I said, miserly :?

Does anyone know of a link to read more about this? I am interested to know if there will be, or is, any potential to give this to women of all ages? Thanks in advance.

Simplistically; he’s getting on, he doesn’t have to sell the off spring to survive, maybe he wants to see the offspring run so why wait another year? His horse – he is free to do whatever he likes. Yes as racegoers we may feel deprived of more fabulous race experiences, but should also be grateful for seeing as much as we did.

Jagger or Richards would have to be dead…..in Richards’ case people may have trouble spotting the difference but anyway……….Lydon – laughable.

The legality of the question doesn’t matter if you really need the job surely?

You don’t legally have to disclose your age, why should you have to give your sexual persuasion as part of applying for a job? And whatever answer is given, are they going to test you on it?

Thanks very much for the responses. If I have read the details in the link correctly, it appears that charitable animal establishments are not included. However, on the basis that the job in question is for an institution which has no publicized religious affiliations to date, I would have thought this question was irrelevant and unnecessary, but maybe they didn’t want to take the risk? We did think that only four options was being a bit miserly!

Maxilon – thanks -she always tried her best.
