Walsh won’t make the mistake of two years ago, and Kauto will return triumphant again.

    Sir Matt Busby

Exactly. Amazing he wasn’t on the poll.

He is now. :D Wonder if anyone who had cast their vote would have done so differently if he had been there from the start?

am sure if you re read your history books, Churchill was far worse and had more to fall out with

Thats complete rubbish. i know enough about chuchill to be fully aware that he did not fall out with colleagues to the extent that Brown has (which is extraordinary). How do you think he could had led a coalition government without respect from all sides of the house at all levels?

Dont patronise when you clearly have virtually no grasp on present or past events yourself

if you are unaware that Browns administration is completely dysfunctional on a management level, then you have clearly not even been remotely following the events of the past two years let alone the obvious pre premiership behaviour

What is also obvious is that you havent read the extracts from the book and you frankly shouldnt be commenting on them until you do.

What about the military leaders he fell out with? They don’t count? Well no not for your argument they wouldn’t.
You chose to believe you know ‘enough’ to try and justify your argument concerning Brown.
No I haven’t read the extracts from teh book – I don’t need to – I can see from the crap on the news programmes what it is supposedly about, or not, and quite frankly I wouldn’t waste my time giving it credence.
I said don’t you dare to presume what I know or who I am – yet you persist.
Reading your signature just about says it all – someone doesn’t agree with you, resort to insults and violence. God forbid you ever have any authority or position of power with that mentality.

I am sure if you re read your history books, Churchill was far worse and had more to fall out with, but you chose to believe what you want.

Where did I say the quality of man management has no bearing? You are twisting what I have written. I said our MD is thought by everyone to be a dick with NO man management skills at all, but he is very good at his job, which we all acknowledge. He is not overly liked by anyone in the company, but we respect what he does and what he has to do to achieve what he does.
Please do not dare to presume you know anything about me personally at all: I have run successful a football team; I have run a franchise of a business on top of my full time job.

This is about Brown and a trash book – not what I think you are capable of or what you think I am capable or not capable of achieving.

Yes. Given two identical companies in balance sheet terms, i would certainly buy shares in the company that had a happy and motivated staff that respected its leadership rather than one whos leadership was dysfunctional

If i could buy shares in John Lewis i would. If i could buy shares in the Post Office i wouldnt

Anyway. Brown is dead now. Even the mild mannered Downing has stuck the knife in today

Doesnt it occur to you that it is not exactly an endorsement of his decision making and leadership skills when his staff hate him, his colleagues despise him and when things dont go his way, he throws tantrums?

A lot of people hated Churchill – didn’t stop him being bloody good at his job and people respecting him for that. A relative of mine worked very closely with him during the war, and said he was a pig of a man, but also said that nobody else could have done what he did and got Britain through it. He was always shouting at and bullying people.

Would you buy shares in Swiss Re? You have no idea who runs that company and even if you googled for a month of sundays, it wouldn’t tell you anything about the people in charge, so if you are going by word of mouth as to making a decision, you are listening to someone trying to sell a book, someone who has broken confidentiality rules and a lot of the trash press we unfortunately have in this country.

Clivex – you seriously think people buy shares based on the personality of the CEO? No I don’t think so.They buy them because they want to make money. For the company to be successful. A few may have moral issues about people or products, but generally – naa – that’s not how the world works. If that’s how you work – great, but this really is a storm in a tea cup. You have never lost your temper at work? You have never thrown anything or hit something or broken/torn up something in a temper or through being frustrated about a situation? Written an angry email, had a row on the phone with someone? As for suggesting I know nothing about how organisations work, we have just been given a 174% of performance bonus because our company has had a great year as all departments have worked hard and together to achieve success, rescuing ourselves from previous totally incompetent senior management. My MD is a total dick in my opinion, has no man management skills at all but he is very good at what he does. I am sure the Board will fire him come next meeting because ‘everyone’ knows he is a dick, but he has been there 3 years and this is our best year to date, so somehow I doubt it as he has been a dick since the day he started.

This really is a story over nothing and Cameron wants an inquiry? Why – did Gordy shout at him too? Let’s waste more public money shall we? Bosses have tantrums every day of the week, and no bullying is not acceptable, but he is in rather a unique job, with just a bit more responsibility than the average boss. I am sure Churchill would have resigned immediately if someone had a go at him for shouting and losing his temper.
Thatcher may have been nice to the number 10 staff – well they did bring her tea and biccies – but that’s about as far as her ‘nice’ extended.

Is it not a good thing that he loses his temper and gets frustrated? Who doesn’t lose their temper and have frustrations?
If he’s a bully, what did that make Thatcher?

…nice bunch of flowers in Tesco’s for £1.68. It’s the thought that counts, and it’s a nice thought. Other times of the year are just not the same, sorry.

Some of us would have been grateful for just a thought.

Just please someone explain to me exactly what AP did that caused Denman to walk through the fence?

What he did was basically lose control of the horse, the pair of them barely had time to recover from the mistake at the 4th last before AP was chucking the coals on again,he was that busy playing catch up you would have thought from his riding style, there wasn"t a 3rd last fence there at all,he never gave the horse a chance to find its stride and Denman being Denman must have thought **** this i"ll just plough straight through it!AP got his timing way wrong! We all make mistakes, some folk just dont like admitting it!

Absolutely spot on TAPK.Should have just popped the next and see how he was going. Typical McCoy.

Walsh said he felt like the horse would win most of the way around and then suddenly emptied. Something wrong inside? Poor thing looked very sad and exhausted when being walked back to the box.

So why the f*** didn’t he pull him up? He’s not the first jockey to do something like this and I am sure he won’t be the last, but why is there is no comeback on the jockey for rides like this? Wasn’t there a comment in the report into the numerous deaths at Cheltenham 2 years ago (3 years?) about tired horses falling and being killed, or subsequently being put down? Absolute disgrace that an individual who has the task of looking after the animal for the race, has no consequences to face when it goes wrong?

Thank you Moehat – will do. Mr Old said Robbie was dead when they got to him from blood loss most likely. A very sad week at the yard.

‘Robbie’ has always been a bit of a character and highly strung. Connections are not sure if anything particular set him off but it was, I am told, horrendous. (I was invited but couldn’t make it, for which now I am not sorry as would have hated to witness what happened) I know the owner through the yard and she is devastated. A bad week for Mr Old with Captain Aubrey being killed at Folkestone on Monday, and he has a foal at home he bred who four vets have told him to put down, but he is trying to save. Fingers crossed so far so good for that but a bad week, and he is also very upset.

He was with Tom Taafe in Ireland for a while before coming over here. Limited contact with him, but very capable, articulate and thorough in his debrief, and honest too.
