I buy Mrs O cards and presents throughout the year.
I’m sure she loves her collection of Timeform Black Books, Paul.

Of course she does – but, obviously, she only has the NH editions.

I just had a flashback to being a 10yr old English boy, starting a new Primary School in rural Fife,i had only been there a couple of months and was extremely unpopular with the local lads who thought i was from another planet! They would chant from this 60ft bench in the shelter,in the playground "If you hate the English B******d clap your hands"! It was character building! Anyway the local girls loved me and i can remember going home with half a dozen Valentine cards,i had been given the nickname of Casanova but didn"t have a clue who he was,i just went along with it!When i got home i can remember my father asking about this reputation i was getting with the girls and told him my nickname was Casanova! Next thing i remember was getting a whack around the back of my head and a lecture on who Casanova was! Valentines day can come and go for me!

I used to celebrate Valentines day but had a bad run on the gee gee’s and sold my Tommy Gun
February 11, 2010 at 16:57 #275644…nice bunch of flowers in Tesco’s for £1.68. It’s the thought that counts, and it’s a nice thought. Other times of the year are just not the same, sorry.

Only when i have over indulged in a bottle of Chablis served at 6.5 degrees to celebrate yet another winner! I might treat myself when Go Native and Paul Carberry sit motionless up the hill as Davy Russell tries to shovel the coals on Solwhit! Davy Russell and shovelling coals dont really tally with each other!!

A complete waste of time and resources. I love my wife every day and don’t need some commercial exercise to express it any more or less. Besides she’s a tulip rather than roses fan and it’s too early for both.
We actually celebrate the Feb 12th instead with a bottle of Ruinart and some toasted ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches. That’s our tradition rather than some Yank marketing guru’s. Now I’d better shove off and go buy some ham and bread.
February 12, 2010 at 11:10 #275799The S.O. buys cards and flowers on Valentines Day which, quite honestly I feel is a waste of time and money, but I’ve started , on these commercial rip off events, to buy a card from Oxfam [they sell the most beautiful hand made cards for 2.99] so at least the money is going to a good cause.

February 13, 2010 at 20:02 #276315Ive just bought my missus a card but i bet i don’t get one back off her thats a nap! haha id put my house on it if i had one
