22B.
(i)
Subject to Sub-Regulation (ii) below, no Pure Br
ed, Anglo Arab or Part Bred horse running in
Great Britain shall be eligible to run in any
Race until it has been parentage identified to a
minimum of two generations, to the satisfacti
on of ARO, and there is confirmation, to the
satisfaction of ARO, that where the parentage
has been verified it must have been verified for
both those two generations against the origi
nal blood or DNA sample taken at the first
registration.
For the avoidance of doubt two generations means the sire and dam of the
horse and its two grand sires and two grand dams. Some horses are part bred Arab’s and Anglo Arab’s and may have a mixture of Arab and thoroughbred blood and are qualified to race in Aarab races if properly registered.
and he was born on Sir Henry Cecil’s birthday, now doesn’t that send shivers down your spine.
And Frankel won his first race on Friday 13th
This may be an interesting book for you to read. Strctly Classified by Marten Julian.
Perhaps the great gambling public would like to contribute to the bills. They must realise that this is an industry built on someones private ownership of an animal, and that they have the last say in what it does.
I’m not decrying the owners part in racing as they are net contributors to the sport but this is an industry built on the contributions of the betting public. Without them there wouldn’t be an industry and the prize money the owners get is down to the public. Also the sport has rules and Mullins/Ricci broke them.
Nicholls is just as bad but then I expect it from him. The mans arrogance knows no end.
Bans now quashed on appeal

It was a great decision. Viewing figures up 12% and one of C4’s biggest ever audiences for any program.
2013 8.9m
2014 8.6m
2015 8.9m
2016 10m
C4 have said 10m audience at peak. 59% audience share.
Just after I typed last post confirmed on ATR Sunday forum that there is no parade.Good thing as well.
I believe they no longer have a parade prior to the race so C4 can’t show it if it does not exist.
Thought the coverage was OK to be honest. Don’t think it matters where the analysts are sitting. They are viewing it on TV anyway.
Can only agree with what others have said regarding the website, it’s awful. Have had problems for quite a while when clicking on the price and nothing happening. Not something you would want to use close to the start time. Strangely haven’t had this problem when using my tablet it has only beem on my PC. No response from Corals when I contacted them.
To be honest my intention is to only use ABP bookies now anyway.
I think Yeats is correct. If she had attempted to use her whip she might well have spoiled her day.
Far better that she ride the horse within her limits and achieve a happy and successful day.
using a whip isn’t as easy as one might think. Many jockeys use the whip as a bad substitute for pushing a horse out properly. When you can do the latter without thinking about it , then you can start to learn to ride a finish with a whip.I am interested in the fact that VP thanked her sponsor . How does having sponsorship affect her amateur status under the rules of racing ?
I would presume aftr reading the BHA rules that as she didn’t have any Betfair branding on her silks or breeches she is ok.
March 18, 2016 at 20:38 in reply to: Interviewing winning jocks straight after big race. Embarrassing & pointless #1238823I guess we are fortunate these interviews don’t take place until after the race is over.
At some time in the future I fully expect to see Plunkett ensconsed by the last fence with a megaphone in her hand asking jockeys if they think they are going to win, and if so by how far.
Let’s be thankful for small mercies, although it is a shame that more riders don’t adopt the stance taken by Robert Thornton.
Already been done. Earlier this week she was speaking to jockeys as they were taking a look at the practise fence just before the start. They clearly didn’t really want to speak which I guess is why it hasn’t been continued.
March 15, 2016 at 22:29 in reply to: Cheltenham – too dangerous and perhaps should be closed #1237813It is dangerous when rail posts are left sticking up on the course.
Annie Power and the rest of the Champion Hurdle field did well to avoid a potential disaster just after the second last flight.
Whoever had the job of checking the course was clear got very lucky.
It was a spigot used to spray green dye over the crossing.
Race 4 – 3:30pm THE STAN JAMES CHAMPION HURDLE CHALLENGE TROPHY (CLASS 1) (Grade 1)
The Stewards enquired into why a spigot was left in the crossing after the second last flight of hurdles, approximately a metre from the inside running rail, causing the runners on the inside to have to take evasive action. They interviewed the Clerk of the Course, who stated that the spigot had inadvertently been left when the groundstaff had shifted the running rail to enable them to spray the crossing with green dye. He added that to avoid this happening in future he had instructed the groundstaff to leave the spigots in situ during spraying. Having also viewed video recordings of the race they forwarded the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
