Thanks James. I backed Lanmire Tower yesterday because of the Pulled Up factor.
Jim, Good point. Maybe they could breed a genetically modified ugly fox, then few people would complain.
There should be a law that only allows hunting of ugly animals. Leave those beautiful foxes alone.
DL Ever get the feeling you’re banging your head against a brick wall ?
I wonder if Escorail and Robb are members of the Flat Earth Society ?
Does anyone else start to lose the will to live half way through a Escorail monologue ?

Confucious he say, if one man calls you a fool ignore him, if five men call you a fool……….
Esc. Your boast that your prowess as a punter funds a annual holiday in Texas impressed me…… until I was informed by another forumite that in fact you win just enough to be able to tow your caravan to the car park of Texas Homestore in Bognor.
Esc. The only person you are fooling is youself. You will not bet at any price, only a complete moron would do such a thing. But then, maybe…………….
Esc . So I can only assume that there is not a price that a bookie could quote that you would not take.
1/10 sp on a Racing Post forecast of 5/1. Do you steam in. Each Way ? Just to be on the safe side.
Esc. Having completed the jigsaw, is there a price at which you would not be prepared to bet your selection ?
A question for those who will only back, regardless of the price, what they consider to be the winner. Are you 100% certain that the horse will win ?
Every time you back a winner you have found value.
Chapter 3 of my forthcoming book "The Secrets of a Successful Punter" is titled "Ignore the Price a winners a winner".
Other chapters are:
Each Way Betting (You get paid if its placed !).
Keeping records is for Losers. (You know you are a winner)
The Round Robin. (The most fun you can have with a fat bird).
Ladbrokes seem keen to promote it.
Something that I feel is very important that I don’t remember being mentioned is that it is worthwhile analysing a system to find out in which price band the profit lies in. eg I have one that appears to work well between 7/4 – 15/2 but loses money below or above these figures. Yet again to get an accurate figure you need lots of data.
Blimey Mr E you really do seem to be taking mine and Steve’s postings the wrong way. Maybe I should sprinkle them with "smileys" to show what a jovial funster I am.
For the record I have loved systems ever since I won £5,000 ten years ago using a system I devised which had a great strike rate at good odds. I thought I had discovered the secret to eternal wealth. It wasn’t until I did some serious research through back issues of the Sporting Life that I realised I had just noticed a short term trend and had been fortunate enough to exploit it to the full.
If my approach seems more serious than most then I plead guilty as charged. My ambition for this year is to win enough to live off and nearly all my bets will be of a systematic nature therefore I can’t just hope to be lucky. Making great profits for six months then losing it in the next three will be no good for me.
Tee-Hee.

As I said in a previous post which was wiped by the server crash, in the end all systems will fail, its just a case of how long it takes. Some people say they have systems that have worked for many years, for me the thing that counts is not the length of time a system has worked but the number of bets. If you have a system that has one selection a day you will have about 300 bets a year. I have looked at systems that work well for 2000 bets and then go the shape of the pear for the next 1000. So you could have a system that works for seven years then doesn’t for the next three. Nothing is forever, nothing stays the same, you must exploit a system while you can but know when is the right time to bail out. ÂÂÂ
Trainers can be predictable for a number of years then all of a sudden the wheels fall off. Spotting a trend as it starts can be very profitable, jumping on a bandwagon means you are too late.

Steve SB posts a well reasoned, researched opinion. Your response seems to assume that anyone who doesn’t follow a system is a slave to the form book.
If you read it again you may see that he knows what he’s talking about and gives no indication of being a form book student.
Oh, by the way I agree that if studying the form book was the route to riches half the members of this forum would be millionaires.
