I’ve never been keen on Persian Punch myself, even less so today cos I was on Jardines Lookout but there you go.
coral on line refused a £100 win bet on a 4/1 shot in a 16+ runner handicap from me today, I couldn’t believe it! I did take them for alot on Saturday though;)
Not sure if you are being sarcastic nore but reading this thread gives me the impression that some have no concept of it in horse race betting terms.
One of the tipsters I use advised us to back Shore Vision yesterday @ the earlier prices for 8/1 & 7/1. The reason being he felt it was value against such a short priced favourite. It was not a strong bet as the horse was still a maiden but the reasoning (of which there was more than I have posted) made Shore Vision a value bet in his eyes.
I think value is something alot punters don’t seem to understand, they like to think a winner is a winner so surely that’s value no matter what the price & conditions of the race.
Does anyone know what I am getting at here?
I was wrong about my ROI this year, it is 5.12%

I made about 4.4% ROI last year & am currently on 4.8% this year, after all expenses. I have had nearly 1712 bets this year!
But to be honest, I am more bothered about the % increase on my starting bank for the year, last year I made 120% on it, this year, at the moment, I have 200% on it but, with the numbe rof bets I have it flucuates wildly. One thing I find important is NOT to set a target. I reckon if you are falling short of your target you might get desperate to try & get it back, for me you should just aim for a profit & not worry about any given target.
One thing I will say though, thank god they scrapped 9% betting tax!
Paddy Power once closed me down and I was losing with them, ‘they did not like the bets I was having’, I kid you not, I couldn’t believe it!
Well done people!!! Raymondo seems very quiet, I wonder why???

Apparently Betfair have offered evidence that F. Murphy was lying about laying the horse to win £1600, the total amount traded on the horse was £452 & the total traded on the race was £2600. The said horse was 8/1
I had forgotten about Hamner, when calling the flat races he is that slow, by the time he has given you the position of each runner in the field the race is nearly over!
There are a couple of others who are good but their names escape me at the moment!

The view they have is something I have often wondered about before but, I think I saw a piece on Simon Holt & he said he had to do the commentary from the TV as that is what the viewers see?? I dunno though, I couldn’t do it.

How about this then,
Yesterday I backed calling the shots @ 11/4 for £200 each way. The horse came second so I lost £90. My reasoning was quite simply that I thought the horse had a fantastic chance of winning but could possibly get caught by one or two others, to me there was no way it would finish outside the 1st three so, I figured it was a £90 bet to win £660 so giving me 7.33/1, Ok this is the theory, any number of things could have gone wrong & it would have cost me £400 but, as I said, in MY opinion it would not be out of the 1st three, hence the bet. Not everyone will agree with it being sensible but, I don’t do it often & have never actually got it wrong yet (i.e. horse not even placed)
On the other hand, if I was sure that I could have narrowed it down to Calling the shots & Moyne pleasure (which I did, trouble was I had another danger) I would have backed both horses to win.
For me, betting each way depends on the opportunity & how you view it!
