Hasnt run at the ryanair distance in two years, was beaten 26l, last time he won at 2m 5 was 2013, hes a different horse now, hes every bit a 3m+ horse, if he runs anywhere near his best he will be bang there, put a line through the king george run, clearly ran well below form/small field race didnt suit
If theres any soft in the description at cheltenham, and a big field turns up which it definitely will now that TC lost, he has every chance of winning this GC as he did last year
Couldnt have him winning a ryanair now personally
Cdt out now
Bishop already said gold cup
Maybe, we know messire des obeaux wont be running if he runs tomorrow, so shouldnt he be running away from that type of field ? If you take MDO out
i find it funny the hate mullins gets, he released the injuries on AP, faugheen and min immediately, twice in faugheens case, people start to make accusations up hes done this and that etc
Gary moore does the same thing
One is right one is totaly wrong and the biggest liar in the game
When 95% of your horses are highly anticipated, your never going to please people
When your another trainer with 5% highly anicipated horses and 95% mediocre, you do the exact same things just on a smaller scale because no one gives a ****
The vautour situation was a year ago, it was ricci…… get over it… dont back antepost if you cant take those situations….. henderson just rerouted bvd and ballsed up alot of antepost bets…. how dare he…
Willie has made it no secret in the past that he thinks Douvan would get 3 miles. You have to remember the caliber of horses Douvan works against at home and for Willie to say he could win any race at the festival?
He has probably kicked Djakadam aside many a time at home, and I remember seeing something like Douvan was the only horse able to get Vautour off the bridle. I fully believe we will see him run in this years King George if he is fit and healthy, for better or for worse.
Don’t get me wrong the Champion Chase is the Champion Chase, second only to the Gold Cup in my opinion, but when you have a horse that you believe could be the best you ever have , you want to win the best race there is.
Mullins says a lot of things, we all have eyes.
Of course Douvan “kicked Djakadam aside many a time at home”. That’s the problem when it comes to the Gold Cup, he’s all about speed speed speed, where as Djakadam has stamina. Douvan is yet to race further than 2m1f and although isn’t exactly “free” at that trip… can see his chances of settling well enough to stay 3m2f110yrds on a stiff track (or indeed any track) are minimal to none.
Definitely, if he was to good for annie at home last year over CH distances, how do you go from that to the gold cup, just cant ever see it materialising, i think the only reason they even entertain it is because its the first thing anyone asks them as soon as they post race interview when douvan wins
Plus lets gope he stays CC as id rather see altior vs douvan than douvan turning up somewhere at some distance that he might not be as good at
Rich ricci wants to win a gold cup aswell
Of course- champion chase too though!
Mullins also said he could easily have been a champion hurdle horse having the speed for a champion hurdle/champion chase being as good as he js at that distance i just cant see it, i dont think ruby could Settle him to get 3m+
Far more likely to see UDS end up in the king george than douvan, not that i know much though
Who knows though if somehow he got beat at cheltenham maybe they would do it , would be exciting to see him step up but id be equally excited if he remained and dominated
Yes
I get that vautour obviously, but if your a champion 2miler, destroying everything and anything, could potentially dominate it for the forseeable future, youd risk that to step up and “maybe” be as good over further
Rubys blog today virtually said the same thing, why would you want to step him up
More chance of yorkhill stepping up in trip than douvan id say, champion chase is something theyll want to win multiple times if its possible, could yorkhill beat altior? Probably not…. could douvan beat altior….. probably yes
Dont understand why they would even consider stepping douvan up
Benie des dieux likely to show up here?, after winning a beginners chase they wont put her away will they? Just curious..
Same, jlt is almost a cert for him, ch is possible if he can produce at 2m, the arkle is about the worst race for him, his jumping will be put under too much pressure at that distAnce, plus altior is to good for him.
They seem to have been fairly outgoing about limini in the mares, would have been unlikely they sent both there, this makes the most sense for her
The volume of bets they get are by far greater than most, keepS whoever they refund betting on their site in future aswell
Sure is innoko, im usually miles off aswell all part of the fun
Theyll send him wherever they think he has the best chance of winning which is arguably the jlt, no? but it does make sense putting him here, absolutely no clue
I think the christmas hurdle was a terrible race to tell if he was quick enough for a CH it was suited to a stayer, hes obviously good enough to be in the mix for it this year, but if jezki was in top form at home, i just dont know if yanworth could beat him over two miles, or BVD for that matter
Will sit back and let this market get a little more clear before i get involved
But your right he probably will run here if fit, just speculation from me thats all
