Not sure if she runs here but Riviere D’etel will take all the beating if she’s anywhere near her best. A class above this lot. Elliot reckons they’ve sorted her injury issues.
Only 7 left here. Friday will see the highest quality County hurdle field ever for sure.
TC, I think you could be on to something with Perseus Way. He’ll take some stopping if he can put it all together on the day. Would have beaten Nusret soundly if everything hadn’t gone to pieces from the 3rd last onwards.
Blazing Khal is the easiest lay of the week for me.
He didn’t look that impressive in winning the Boyne hurdle and it was hardly a strong race. He’s also had a troubled prep for this plus there’s a big chance he bounces anyway 2nd run back after a long break.
He beat Beacon Age 6.5 lengths who was 44 lengths behind Teahupoo previously. Teahupoo even gave him 9lb whereas Blazing Khal only gave him 5lb.
Sire du Berlais was 10 lengths behind him but 33 lengths behind Teahupoo.I don’t even think Blazing Khal will be in the discussion here. It’s between Teahupoo, Home By The Lee and Marie’s Rock (if she runs) imo. Flooring Porter may run a big race also if Cromwell has him fit enough.
Teahupoo all day for me.
Really hope Marie’s Rock ends up in this. Teahupoo is a tougher opponent than any of the mares in my opinion.
Secret Investor has caught my eye for this. Has just won back to back races in the discipline so should be qualified now.
If he’s anywhere near the horse he was in the 2021 Denman chase, he’ll take some beating.Ferns rock was my main fancy though and was disappointed to hear he wasn’t running.
Hate to see those riding tactics on a brilliant front runner like Energumene.
Yes, he won a Queen Mother with those tactics but the race fell apart with Shiskin not turning up and Chacun Pour Soi falling.
He’s the best 2 miler around so connections shouldn’t be afraid of anyone. Let the others change tactics.I want to see him eye balling Moores horse from the get go in March.
That was damn impressive alright, I didn’t realise she was that good. Nothing bar Honeysuckle beats her in March.
Great to see Indo get his head in front again and great for Henry and connections also.
De Bromheads stable is in shocking form and it’s been that way for well over a year now barring a few class performers like A Plus Tard and Honeysuckle.
Bob Olinger never lifted a leg there. I could blame the trip if he’d have travelled strongly into the race then failed to get home but you could see he was feeling the heat a long way from home even with the patient ride.Danny Mullins deserves a ban for failing to ride Flooring Porter out to the line costing him 3rd place.
Ian, if he stays the 3m2f well, we have another Kauto/Arkle on our hands. His speed over 2m4f is so impressive that he looks every bit as much a Queen Mother Horse as a Gold Cup Horse. He actually reminds me a lot of Sprinter Sacre since he’s gone chasing.
We’ll not find out until March but he’s not unlike the great ‘One Man’ either who found those final 2 furlongs rather difficult.A brilliant performance as expected though we still know nothing regards his Gold Cup credentials.
I really feel they should’ve targeted the Savills chase with him. The Irish Hennessy is a bit close to Cheltenham so we may not see this horse tested against proper horses over 3m before the big one.
Nicky gets all the flack yet Willie has been every bit as cautious with his horses in recent times.Kauto did miss the Arkle that year though.
Can’t wait to see GDC back over the weekend. The 2nd most exciting horse around behind CH for me, although, while I was certain CH was a superstar the minute the Supreme had finished, I do think GDC has to go out and cement himself as a top horse on Sunday. Bob Olinger wasn’t right last season and Master McShee is hardly on Jonbon or Epatante’s level.
I hope both Conflated and Fakir D’oudairies turn up so we get a good gauge of GDC’s level though I expect the former may wait for the Savills.Andy, CH would destroy Alderbrook over hurdles and dare I say it, I think he’d beat Kyprios on the Flat too.
I don’t think Honeysuckle underperformed there at all. She missed the 3rd or 4th last which cost her a bit but overall I still feel that was a better performance than her last 2 in this race.
She had only beaten Ronald Pump the last 2 years and he’d have been beaten a distance today.Honeysuckle has been a great mare but all this talk all the time that she has loads left in the tank is nonsense. Had she loads in the tank when she beat Benie des Dieux by 1/2 length?
The fact is, great mare and all that she is, she’s benefitted greatly from one of the weakest champion hurdle eras in recent memory.
Constitution will beat her a distance and it wouldn’t matter whether she was 6,7,8 or 9yo.
