Is Dads Lad absolutely thrown in? last chase beat Editeur du Gite by 13 lengths receiving 15lbs so taken literally would be rated 158 but off 145 in this race. Ran in a hurdle last time and came nowhere but was that conserving chase rating?
March 2, 2023 at 16:20 #1637546Rouge Vif is my main fancy here, and annoyingly put up on a Preview show this week, which means I can’t really claim any more than 20-1, as he’s now been bet accordingly.
The other horse that I like, though in reality trying hard to make a concrete case for is Riders Onthe Storm at 33-1
March 2, 2023 at 17:58 #1637560Quite interested in Frero Banbou in this.
Came from absolutely miles back to finish 3rd in the race last year, might have been 2nd without a horrendous blunder at the last, and is 6lb better off this time around.
Got to be worth a few quid at 25s.
March 6, 2023 at 18:51 #1638002Moyenne I was about to tip up the same horse! Frero Banbou looks on a great mark!!
March 6, 2023 at 19:06 #1638004Sorry I got excited and didn’t write the rest of my post, the horse finished in third, a respectable 6 lengths behind the winner in this race last year off a mark of 141 and is now 6lbs below that mark on 135. He’s versatile ground-wise as well, last years running being on Heavy going but I feel this years anticipated better going won’t be a negative.

Never apologise for getting excited, Ben.

March 10, 2023 at 00:53 #1638324Moyenne – Just watched a Venitia Williams interview in which she states the Plate handicap is the much prefered option for Frero Banbou, he’s been backed in to 10/1 for that race.
March 12, 2023 at 02:55 #1638641Just read this Lucinda Russell article on the RP – https://www.racingpost.com/news/festivals/cheltenham-festival/the-weather-winds-me-up-but-were-used-to-it-snow-wont-stop-russell-as-she-readies-her-big-two-for-festival-week-aYOV28R2L3AW/
She mentions a horse that looks very interesting, Douglas Talking 25/1, unlikely to get in but with NRNB he’s worth a go so I’ve backed him e/w, can see him either not making the cut or going off shorter so either way I wouldn’t complain.
March 12, 2023 at 11:52 #1638682Not sure if she runs here but Riviere D’etel will take all the beating if she’s anywhere near her best. A class above this lot. Elliot reckons they’ve sorted her injury issues.
March 13, 2023 at 16:41 #1638883Had a shortlist of three before this, and two of them, Before Midnight, and Midnight Run, both make it.
Also being putting up Battleoverdoyen regularly the last couple of seasons, and it’s hard to leave him at massive odds. There’s a race in him, not sure this is it, and he might have to be in running, for all he’s very tempting at current odds.
This is my worst race of the year, I don’t think I’ve had one placed in it the last fifteen, twenty years, so I’m not confident. With that in mind, betting Battleoverdoyen in running makes sense. Though probably not as much sense as leaving it alone completely
And to top it off, I forgot about another notebook horse of mine, Call Me Lyreen…………this won’t end well
Battleoverdoyen possibly in running then, along with………
Before Midnight
Call Me Lyreen 30’s
Midnight Run 22’sMarch 13, 2023 at 18:34 #1638912Loads of tipped up horses don’t make it, including Irish Hill. Pah.
March 13, 2023 at 18:56 #1638916I did tip Dinoblue for the Mares Chase early in the season so I will have to back her in this race. She does jump well and I hope she is still well enough handicapped.
March 13, 2023 at 22:10 #1638962I like the favourite here. Andy Dufresne should have won it last year, but was surprised by Global Citizen. That won’t happen again. I also like Dads Lad. His win at Cheltenham in the autumn – beating Editeur du Gite – does look stong form. Finally added Thyme White. I think he was one of the favourites for this race last year, but didn’t run. Still quite young and can improve again.
Thyme White 16/1 EW
Andy Dufresne 5/1
Dads Lad 12/1March 15, 2023 at 08:39 #1639368Battleoverdoyen EW @ 40’s 6 places
Had a few bets on him for the other handicap so no option really given the price. Ran well at Naas i thought and you could fancy him to turn the tables with Coeur Sublime at the weights who is 4 times shorter in price.
March 15, 2023 at 10:33 #1639396Maskada and The Last Day, both at 25s
March 15, 2023 at 12:08 #1639413I’m Battleoverdoyens no1 fan and he,s well covered , id love him to run a a big race , at shorter Dinoblue has been laid out for this and ante post I’ve got Third time lucki at a decent price … I really really want Battle to win
