    Neil:

Your ESPN plan would not work. ESPN gives practically no time to live horse racing whatsoever. You can count on the fingers of one hand the races they have shown live since May and still have fingers left over when you consider most of those were shown on ESPN2 which does not come with every cable package.

The same is true of Network TV. There is no interest here in showing domestic racing. There should be, but there is not and when there is the talented people are drowned out by the need to show silly stuff with the crowd and celebrity interviews and such like.

No, the incident is at 1.17 or 1.18 and is just before the camera switches over. Posse is in deep red colors and is on the very right of the picture. Hard to see but is there.

Isnt Posse on the other side of the track though…How does Nureyev interfere with him?

If you look at the video at 1 min 18 seconds you can just see where Nureyev pulled out and Eddery on Posse took up. Not very clear though.

Couldnt see anything at 1.18 at 1.22-1.24 Nureyev appears to drift to his right and maybe crossed the line of the horse whose jockety was earing yellow silks but that horse looked beaten to me.

My late father was the Stipendary Steward there that day. He maintained that it was a fairly clear cut decision.

From this video one can see little, I do remember the head on looked very bad.

Funny enough, I backed Known Fact.

There is a mini documentary to be made there if somewhere in the RTS archives the head-on exists.

One of my favorite 2000 Guineas, even though I was only four at the time and the first classic I haver a memory of.

Even today when I see a horse with Nureyev in its breeding I mention the injustice of that race for our friends in America.

….. and I boasted about mine too soon – the "industrial" ones are no more as I have discovered, the hard way, they do not bounce and in a battle between the bins and the Ascot Grandstand steps the steps won.

Oh well it looks like an insurance claim – still a bit of a bummer though.

Sorry to hear that Paul. Not a fan of zoom binoculars myself but hope you can find some thing you are happy with.

    Agree Craig.
Top jocks should be able to charge what they think they are worth. This then might reduce their number of rides, therefore giving the less experienced jocks a chance of more bookings.
Too many give up through lack of rides. KFallon could have been one of them.
I’m not saying I think jockeys should be paid less but the experienced ones should set their own rates.

    Hi Nor1!

I think you touch on a point that is very important. Capitalism works in this sense but we also need to make sure the jockeys are paid a decent minimum as a standard for the risks they take.

    Hi David!

Actually I find my 10×40’s pretty easy to handhold and talk without too much shake. They are only 650grams. I do have a set of 7×50’s I use as a back up though.

    David!

If I am not mistaken you probably got those from Monk Optics?

If so, well done, top company to deal with. Their Dowling and Rowe line is their own brand, in the US they are called Oberwerks and are very nice binoculars with far superior performance than their price tag would suggest.

Do you find 7×50 enough to pick out jockey silks down the far side at most tracks?

In Colorado jockeys set their own fees and it works very well. The hignerr priced ones tend to be more selective of the race they ride in anyway and the younger inexperienced jockeys can get rides and if they get onto a good streak are entirely justified in raising their price.

    Capitalism works.

Free admission and reasonable food and drink prices would scoop any other form of sporting entertainment in the London area.

Not sure about breakfast racing, but a 10 or 10.30 start would work for me, especially combined with above.

Most of all, make a great friendly, comfortable simulcasting area opened all day long so after the early races, people will want to stay and spend money.

.. I don’t see anything racist about pointing out that the folk at the head of the US money tree are Jewish, they don’t exactly keep it a secret. Better them than some bible bashing fat red neck who wants to declare war on everyone.

    8)

    So no stereotyping there then!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me I live in the middle of fat red neck bible bashers. fat red neks are great, but when they are religious fat rednecks, there is no way to reason with them. Jay-Zuzz rules y’all!

Reminds me of the radio station I work at: Where there is a sign that explains you cannot be racist or say things about religious groups and underneath someone put: "Except for Brit’s and Jews!"

No, America will not end up like Nigeria but that doesnt have anything to do with Barack being black or your assertion that jews control everything!

Any way I am off to dinner with the Rothschild’s and my buddies from Bilderberg as we work out the next year or so of hiding from the public that are political leaders and royal family are all inter-related lizard people!

Barack has shown no more sense than Bush in his ability to use his brain and even less in using his teleprompter.

    Peter:

I think you made a good choice.

Although 10x may be preferrable, some thing we have not discussed really in this thread is the higher the magnification the more unsteady the image, especially when you are talking.

I would be happy using 8’s if I had a monitor to also work off. If I didn’t, I would want the heavier power.

But as Drone says everyone is different. They certainly deserve a test spin to see if they work for you.

Must be a terrible shock having a president like Obama when you’ve had George Bush for 8 years.

Yes, it is. But for different reasons than what you are thinking.
