Call the police. We wuz robbed. Slowly away, flash of tail, chased along, jockey concedes defeat and goes through motions. Tailed off. Some money around at the off, from 14/1 to 9/1.
Watch for a vastly improved performance from Embezzle next time.An up front, honest, subconscious revelation. Now that I admire, greatly.
Good wishes, G.
KBest priced 22/1 in some places though Ladbrokes and Hills only quoting 10/1!
Having spent ‘hours’ trawling the archives for the Zorro connection thanks for the link.
I’m so sad that I wasn’t around at the time to savour those sweet, erudite morsels to my ears. My timing has always been appalling or so my distant and disappointed conquests would have you believe.
And yet, I fear my offerings would have been treated with similar disdain to recent months, as frequently more fashionably cerebral whipper-snappers take centre stage. "Exit left Archie, your days are numbered."
It has always been a somehat forlorn ambition to be an ‘insider’ but life has not been kind in that respect and I peer through the sweetshop window, watching my peers purchase their bags of dolly mixtures and sticks of Coltsfoot Rock. Always on the outside, looking in.
What might have been. Would I have taken a different path down that 1960’s slippery slope had I known that age eventually catches up with both man and beast? Investing all my new-found wealth on fourteen year-old Call Box was only ever destined to lead to dream-chasing thereafter. The happiness we label riches always just, just beyond reach, retrospectively.
The thread only raises one question in my befuddled mind, addressed to Gamble please:-
Whatever happened to Chiquitta?
Thanks

I can just imagine how much he’d appeal to the youngsters.
August 24, 2010 at 12:55 in reply to: Coloured racehorse ridden by Paul Pickard at Paul Midgleys #314494Great news, Angrovestud. I’m sure his biggest test to date will come when you try harnessing him to the milk cart but he looks fairly strong to my unsophisticated eyes. Two pints of silver top, please.
Sorry, just pulling your leg. Have you been able to syndicate him yet please and/or will he be running in your colours, which are?
Cheers

In total harmony with you on that Gaz’s.
An obvious and crude attempt by the Morning line to appeal to the lowest common denominator.Cormack wrote….Come on everyone give the lad a break.
Corm, "the lad" is 36 years of age! If he is old enough to be allowed on here he is also old enough to be chastised when he writes a disrespectful post i.e. "who’s bothered? who cares?"
It seems like ages ago since I and others were criticised for disagreeing with Matthew and having bitten the bullet my subsequent relations with him have been courteous and generally cordial. I hope that continues.
However, yesterday, having read his quoted post above I suggested an apology to Pinza was in order. Had Matthew used his loaf he had time to issue a quick retraction and apology but he purposefully chose not to do so and instead dragged up his past dealings with Pinza and others.
Wisely, he chose not to take me on again, possibly because he realises that my role in this was initially an attempt to apply the reigns and prevent him from running into a wall of negativity.
Personally, I blame Matthew, the jockey, for not seeing the danger ahead. In fact it was one of the worst rides I’ve seen all year and I think he needs to be sent back to riding school to hone his skills.
I understand your role is difficult, Corm, but one senses a certain patronage towards Matthew for his abundance of so-called "light-hearted" posts whereas equally prolific writers always seem to be ‘in the wrong’ simply because we show a united front in the way we deal with ‘transgressors’ of board etiquette.
We, too, deserve to smell the roses from time to time, do you not think?
Ken.
Matthew wrote elsewhere…We want young, fun people on here rather than boring people.
Question: What age limit do you suggest, Matthew?
Question: Should the oldies just fade into the background?
Question: Are we allowed to have fun at your expense, please?
Pinza wrote….Matthew’s Big Day Out at the Knavesmire..
Was that the sequel to the Famous Five on Holiday at Aunt Bessie’s? Or am I confusing the Secret Seven series, Pinza?
Matthew, as you yourself often tell people….Get Over It.
It’s no big deal. Move on. At your age these sort of flash in the pan put-downs should be like water off a duck’s back.
There’s people needlessly dying in Pakistan and other places and all you’re worried about are your hurt feelings. Let’s all just forget the last hour or so. Happy families again. End of.The lesson to be learned Matthew is, don’t diz someone’s thread otherwise the repercussions will be far stronger than you think. You can’t expect to receive a simple rap over the knuckles when you’re disrespecting people’s efforts, especially people who’ve been on this planet a lot longer than you. Take the stick on the chin and don’t run off to teacher.
And no doubt you’ll come up smelling of roses, Matthew.
Welcome Wether Bee. I used to be young and vibrant like yourself but an excess of fast women and slow horses eventually took their toll on me and now all I have to look forward to in life are interesting threads from the likes of Pinza, which incidentally help to rekindle my memories of days gone by. If it weren’t for the likes of Pinza’s exciting and enthralling threads I just don’t know what I’d do with myself…I might even have to speak to old Mrs Jones sitting in the armchair opposite or Mr Smith here on my left. I’ll have to go now because I can see Nurse looking at me over the top of her Cosmopolitan magazine. Mustn’t get into trouble.
Pinza wrote…it’s marvellous too that you can get plenty of midweek days off
But you forget, Pinza. The new term starts in a couple of weeks.
There was only one muppet, Mr Wilson. But he’s apologised so time to move on.
Thought the Trifecta was a bit mean, only £6,300 with two 100/1 shots in first three.- AuthorPosts
