IC wasn’t 100 per cent fit from what I’ve heard so there’s plenty more to come — and better ground would suit
Lee, you do yourself down. I recall from my days at Radio Gloucestershire that we often dusted off the archive tape of your commentary from that day for lookbacks etc.
Reading your account was a great reminder of the fun we had that year covering the Festival. Can’t believe it was so many years ago!
Lee, are you doing the MC gig at Cheltenham next week. Might well bump into you if you are there.
Lee is top notch. He was the Five Live commentator for many years until John Hunt took over.
I watched the replay on Racing UK and he seemed in good form. Can’t understand the criticism above.Minus three here at 0830 after a cold night.
Sat should be Ok if forecasts are right. Friday not so sure — but the sun is shining here now.I wasn’t saying it would not be on, but just sounding a note of caution to the met office forecasts and what Cheltenham are saying.
Drove past the stables this morning. The fences are on a steep hill overlooking the A40 just outside Cheltenham. The hill was covered with frost!
The horses seem to running well at the moment.
Good to see him doing well.[quote="Given a stinker by Johnson last time and on ground which he hated maybe this is another to seriously consider.
I was at cheltenham preview last night and Carl Llellwyn suggested that RJ was shaken up after taking a very heavy fall on planet of sound in the race before.
[Somersby is a very good horse lads. He was going clear from Tchico Polos and Crack Away Jack at the finish and I would expect an improvement again. He’s Cee Bee’s only danger]
Can’t help but agree.
It wasn’t Johnson’s finest hour, but I got the feeling that the horse got a bit stuck in the going.
Been confirmed he’s out of festival. Big shame when you have such a good horse as TM to ride.
Hospital says: "He is stable and is
awaiting further tests."The fact that it took 30 mins to get in the chopper doesn’t sound good.
Thanks for that.
Don’t know a lot about the pointers. But when it comes to the FH I do know you have to ignore the chasers who previously ran under rules — they have a shocking record.
I always look out for something from the point fields on the up. Cappa Bleu fitted the profile well last year.
Perhaps, Sericina is the one.Just watched the sericina replay.
Sketchy jumpting at times, but looked very useful at the end of the race. Will she be qualified for FH?If so, one for the shortlist?
Alas, the meeting is off.
Looks like RSA is still the target. Seems like someone has been wasting their dosh. This from RO website:
[However, Henderson said he favoured the RSA and was only running Long Run in the Kingmaker because it was an easier option at this stage of his career.Speaking on At The Races, the trainer said: "Everyone thinks this is a trial for the Arkle, but it’s 99 per cent certain he’ll run in the RSA.
"This is just an easier prep race for him. These three mile races take a lot out of any horse, let alone a five-year-old. I’m trying to look after him."
Weird Al and Tazbar looked the best jumping performances of the day.
Punchestowns was good, but Weird Al jumps with such ease.I think AP is keeping his options open in case CCB doesn’t make it to Cheltenham. Given CCP’s history, it’s a very sensible strategy.
