I was pleased to see Kim Bailey saddle two winners today at a premier meeting. I have always thought of him as a more than capable trainer who has had a run of bad luck over the years, since his heyday of training top class animals. Nice to see him back again , and I hope that this is a sign of things to come
November 27, 2010 at 23:16 #330239Bailey is one of the more open and forthcoming trainers and his blog is informative and interesting.
The downturn in his fortunes
was a combination of:-1. Virus in his former Lambourn yard that lasted years and he couldn’t get rid of
2. Loss of key staff member when Eddie Hales set up on his own
3. Personal/ marriage problems
Good to see him on the way back

Who can forget how good his stable jockey used to be aswell when he was right up there. Stormin Norman is still one of my favourite all time NH jockeys.
Still think that was my greatest ever Cheltenham when they bagged the big race double with Alderbrook and Master Oats! It was only the other day I watched both those races on youtube when having one of those moments where you savour past champions…
November 29, 2010 at 16:03 #330411Wasn’t John Francome the last jockey to find himself with a double handful whilst riding one of Kim Bailey’s?
November 29, 2010 at 22:32 #330452Drove past the stables this morning. The fences are on a steep hill overlooking the A40 just outside Cheltenham. The hill was covered with frost!
The horses seem to running well at the moment.
Good to see him doing well.November 30, 2010 at 21:15 #330603It’s a shame this cold snap has come along – hopefully it won’t take too much of the wind out of his sails. Really good to see him hitting some form; his blog should be required reading for all with an interest in racing!
