Overdose is going to miss Royal Ascot for sure. His owner Mikóczy Zoltán announced it yesterday:

It’s in Hungarian, it says there’s no chance to prepare Overdose for Royal Ascot because of his injured hoof, so he’s going to miss the race for sure

Coral and Sportingbet came out with the odds for King Stand Stakes and Golden Jubilee.
Overdose is the main favorite @4.00 and @5.00.

Here’s a good quality video of Overdose’ Sunday run. It’s Hungarian speaking but you can enjoy it the same.

Wonder if the BBC would be willing to swop that dark haired presenter woman for Claire Balding, perhaps even on a trial basis…

 I checked out Claire Balding’s photo on the net because I don’t know her. What to say? You’re right.
The dark haired lady’s name is Zsuzsa Demcsák. She’s cute but there are another 10-15 girls like her on Hungarian television, some of them more beautiful :)

Here are some news that might be interesting for you, sorry for my English not that good, but I hope it’s understandable:-)

According to the latest news and reliable Hungarian sources, the official time of Overdose was 54.6 sec on Sunday.
What about last year’s Prix de l’Abbaye, maybe Overdose and Marchand d’Or had more or less the same time but remember that Overdose ran the last 150-200 m held back because Suborics noticed that something was wrong and other horses stopped. So he didn’t give the maximum at all. And on Sunday he didn’t give the maximum again.

It’s interesting that Overdose lost his horseshoe during the race on Sunday. I know he had a problem with his hoof the latest weeks, I don’t know if there’s a connection.

Soumillon said after Sunday’s race: "The horse is at 60% of his condition at the moment and gave only 70% of this 60% today. There was no point to make him run at the maximum, actually, it wasn’t the main race of the year. I enjoyed racing here today, I think everybody could see it. I’d like to thank the crowd for the warm welcome, it gave me great pleasure. Overdose can become a champion that the whole country would like him to be. I’d like to reach a speed with him that no jockey ever has been able to reach so far."
The owner Mikóczy said: "If I try to be realistic, it’s kind a dream for Overdose to remain unbeatable this season in all these big races, but we are working to make this dream come true."

Overdose program for this season ( it can have some changes of course):
    04.19. Kincsem Park
05.23. Haydock Park – Tample Stakes
    06.16. Ascot – King’s Stand Stakes
06.20. Ascot – Golden Jubilee Stakes
    07.10. Newmarket – July Cup
    08.30. Baden-Baden – Goldene Peitsche
    10.04. Longchamp (Paris) – Prix de l’Abbaye
or Nakajama (Japan) – Sprinters Stakes
11.07. Santa Anita (California) – Breeders Cup
or Flemington Park (Melbourne) – P. Farm Classic
12.13. Sha Tin (Hong Kong) – Hong Kong Sprint

Hand times off Youtube is probably not the best way to go collecting such data, but it suggests Overdose’s winning time was closer to 55 secs.

Yes, that’s true. This is why I told that "according to some newspapers" he got 52.6. According to other people only 54.4. Well, also 54.4 is not that bad at all. Anyway, I’m really curious to see him now against the big boys from England, Australia, Hongkong etc. because horse experts here in Hungary are so happy now, they might exagerrate on his real chances. I really don’t know. Ascot will give the answer about Overdose.

Cant wait to see him in the UK, even the legendary Haydock watering shouldn’t stop him given his win in Rome. Anyone know why Suboric has lost the ride?

As far as I know, it was Soumillon himself to ask the owner Mikóczy to give him the opportunity to ride Overdose and he didn’t even ask for money for the first race. At least this is what Mikóczy said this morning on Hungarian televison. He said "when one of the world’s best jockeys walks up to you and tells you a thing like that you just can’t say no."

I’m pretty sure he is unbeaten, I think its 13-0

He’s unbeaten, 12-0 yesterday’s race including. Yesterday it was the last time he ran in Hungary. Actually, it was a kind of gift from his owner Mikóczy Zoltán to Hungarian people who have no money to go and see him abroad. Normally Overdose would never run anymore in a race like yesterday’s one because he’s too good now, only will run in the most prestigious races of the world.
I don’t know if it’s true but Hungarian newspaper say there’s no another horse that has ever run the 1000 m distance in less than 53 sec. Overdose’ time was 52.6 sec yesterday.
I’m not an expert but there’s a huge enthusiasm and attention here in Hungary now about Overdose. People see all this story as a kind of miracle, a kind of modern tale. And they also say if Overdose is right, no horse can beat him in Ascot. We’ll see.

Here’s Overdose probable programme for 2009:

    19 April (?) – Kincsem Park ( Budapest) –
    23 May – Haydock Park – Temple Stakes (Gr2) -1000 m
    16 June – Royal Ascot – King’s Stand Stakes (Gr1) – 1000 m
    20 June – Royal Ascot – Golden Jubilee Stakes (Gr1) -1200 m
    10 July (?) – Newmarket – Darley July Cup (Gr1) – 1200 m

A few months ago the owner of Overdose Zoltán Mikóczy said we would never see Overdose again running in Hungary. It wasn’t a suprise for people who know Hungarian horse sport situation.
Now this possible run on the 19th of April at Kincsem Park must be a bonus for Hungarian fans nothing else for sure. Mikóczy doesn’t earn anything on it. No people who could finance a horse like Overdose running in this country now.

    Greetings to everyone from Hungary,

Well, here in my country all people are just amazed by Overdose. As you surely know, horse racing here in Hungary is a joke, you can’t even immagine the situation. Actually, it’s dying. The goverment wants to sell the one and only decent ( decent in Hungarian terms ) turf in a few months to a real estate holding. If it happens there’s no point to talk about Hungarian horse sport anymore.
Then a horse comes from nowhere and beats all the big boys everywhere he runs. What about l’Abbaye, here all people are sure that Overdose could win it easily, not even Marchand could stop him it’s clear. Some people talk about conspiracy because it’s so strange that the gate didn’t open in one of the most prestigious horse race in the world. And lots of people put huge money on Overdose at great odds @10.00. I think who never had seen him before, including some bookies, just couldn’t immagine that a horse with such a pedigree and coming from an Eastern european country could beat all the big names. Hungarian experts on the contrary, they were almost sure that he could loose with nobody in Paris:-)
I don’t know if you are informed that Overdose’s owner Mikóczy Zoltán has been searching the possibilty for a revenge with Marchand d ‘Or since the Prix de l’Abbaye and he was ready to go to Dubai or Hongkong for it but Marchand’s owners refused it. So, the season is over for Overdose as Mikózcy confirmed it yesterday in Rome where Overdose won easily with a huge advantage but with not really difficult opponents.
