I’d put myself in the sceptical camp as well. That 6/4 is already long gone but even at those odds I’d have happily passed. Agree with Zorro’s assessment of George’s form in the QEII last year. That’s without all the other baggage the horse brings into play. Even taking into account what Aidan is saying it’s my experience that this is one to definitely swerve at such cramped odds. If he hacks up I’ll tip my virtual cap.
Ramonti is the one for me. While the Lockinge might not have been up to much, Red Evie is not that bad. She beat Peeress who in turn was a neck behind Librettist (yeah I know he was beaten by George comprehensively) and Manduro last year. A lot better is that 3rd place behind The Duke and Armada at Sha Tin where Armada is the horse to note and not Bullish Luck. That form is definitely good enough to win here. If a fit and well Armada had shown up for this race I’d have had a real serious bet on that animal. Not concerned about the distance for Ramonti at all. Frankie is on the crest of a wave right now with a real chance on a track he has owned over the years. At 5/1 looks a sporting bet.<br>
Wow! Impressive. On a 1/2 shot and did everything to botch it. Another of countless examples of Fallon getting in trouble during the race and having to "power" his way to a win. You want world class race riding, watch the ride given to 16/1 Bertoliver from stall one over five furlongs at Sandown Park. A jockey with a plan and a brain to implement that plan before the gates ever open. Trainers comments after the race "she’s never shown that much speed before". Jockey must be either prescient or maybe he knew based on riding him in his previous race what the possibilities are. In which case he probably knew more than the trainer.
Jockeys like Kerrin McEvoy are ones we should be heaping all the attention on and not morally bankrupt individuals like Mr. Fallon who while banned from riding in Britain is found guilty of snorting the white dust and banned again. Not to mention all the other transgressions of the past. If he was a soccer player I could understand all the adulation. I dont think he is as good as some on here would profess so quite franky I fail to see why I should get excited.
Disclaimer: I had nary a cent on Bertoliver. Just appreciate watching greatness in any sporting endeavor.
Grimes,
It’s actually since 1882. See article below, may be of interest.

Michael Dickinson was a genius.
Is he dead or did I make my point after all. ;)
Having seen AOB close up soothing a fractious horse, I don’t think JW’s article is over the top.
All fine and well but does that qualify him as a genius?
Have to say I was disappointed by Willoughby’s article. Alway’s have thought of him as an independent thinker, somewhat outside of established norms. So to see the word genius come from his keyboard in respect to a horse trainer, however much he skirts around it, makes me rethink that position. Is Aidan O’Brien a superb trainer of thoroughbred race horses? Without a doubt. Is he a genius? Based on my definition of the word definitely not. I do not think he is doing something singularly exceptional to warrant that tag. Can any poster on here say beyond any sense of doubt that say John Oxx, Dermot Weld, Michael Stoute, Andre Fabre etc etc. could not produce the same results that O’Brien does with exactly the same horses? Mr O’Brien’s reference to putting all your eggs in one basket concerning Holy Roman Emperor does not strike me as particularly smart, regardless of the enterprise.
Always this talk about genius trainers or even more suspect, genius jockeys. How many times did we here during the Cheltenham meet about “the genius that is Michael Dickinsonâ€ÂÂ
