Coolmore have contributed more to English racing than any other racing outfit and deserve a little respect.
Uhh dont think so. The Maktoums are surely tops in that category.
Do agree that AOB does deserve some respect and that underhanded warning or threat or whatever else you want to call it was simply uncalled for.
Vincennes stages a tremendous Christmas card of nine races in excess of 600K prize money this year. Even when Christmas is not on a Sunday the prize money there rivals the best of what British racing has to offer at the busiest of times.
Sorry if I missed it but what day does the draw for stalls position take place? Thanks in advance.
I also think this change is for the good.
The Abbaye stalls position makes "perfect sense". Longchamp is a right handed track but all the sprints are in fact run left handed on a straight track so the number one starting position is in the correct spot.500/1 would be poor value.
Fallon’s championship days are over.Sheesh Andy, you’re missing the point. If there was a problem as you put it which I’m assuming you mean bug virus etc. why would they be scoring regular winners in Ireland. O’Brien has a 17% strike rate there and seven winners in the last 14 days. Not great but surely no indication that there is a problem. The majority of horses you mention just were not up to the task in the races you described above, in some other instances there can be found legitimate excuses for not running up to form.
As I write this a Godolphin horse wins the Hunt Cup, and it looks like the World Cup favorite gets beat by a backwater country like Switzerland (game not completely over). 25 grp.1 winners in a season is a once in a lifetime achievement. The Abdullahs, Maktoums and Aga Khans of the world are no backnumbers and have something to say when it comes to scooping these prestigious prizes. Wildenstein Wertheimer, Moyglare, Cheveley et.al. still bring thru some very talented horses as well.
Big money in the case of Ballydoyle is no guarantee for permanent success.
Swings and roundabouts as they say in Britain. In Ballydoyle’s case the swing might be shorter, only time will tell.I think I’ve spotted the problem.
THEY’RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
There got that off my chest.
Do expect a bold run from the 2yo’s in the CoventryWhat problem? Do you consider Fame and Glory an older horse, what about 3 yo’s are they older?
We are in full agreement then that is no evidence of a bug in the yard with all the horses they are churning out.
I’m not sure about all this Ballydoyle 3yo stuff, how they’re running poorly etc. For me Jan Vermeer and Fencing Master are the only ones to run below form.
St. Nicholas Abbey: ran well enough in the 2000 Guineas, muscle problems
Fencing Master: ran well in the 2000, admittedly ran a very poor race at the Curragh.
Steinbeck: Ran like he’d comem on a tonne for the run and was pleasing enough.
Lillie Langtry: Ran as Steinbeck did.
Cape Blanco: hacked up in the Dante, then ran poorly in France, which was not altogether unexpected after his problems post-Dante.
Midas Touch: Ran well in the Derby, he was never going to be good enough in that imo.
Obviously the runs of Steinbeck and Lillie Langtry will tell us alot more at Ascot as they have their second runs of the season. I wouldn’t be surprised if they silenced the doubters.
Silence the doubters? Dont you think there is enough evidence out there now. The season is not over by any means but if measured by classic success and that is where Ballydoyle excels then it has been an unmitigated disaster for them.
The Ballydoyle three year olds may not reappear until Aidan is sure that they are 100% which right now they are not.The only one running up to last year is the pacemaker so beware.

Sheesh Andy, you keep banging on that drum. There has been zero evidence of any issues at Ballydoyle. As a matter of fact a headline in today’s Racing Post reads: "O’Brien has strength in numbers for Palace clash. Five of the fifteen declared runners in this race are from Ballydoyle", doesn’t sound like a disappearing act to me.
I do however seem to recall a more than brash statement from you at the beginning of the season that O’Brien would break the record of grp1. winners in one year and would sweep pretty much all major european classics. So the facts are as follows: Zero for ten on the classics front with nary a sniff at a winner and with three remaining classics zero for 13 is most likely on the cards, especially if Workforce shows up in Ireland. How many grp.1 winners so far TWO, I think. Ballydoyle will throw everything and the kitchen sink at Royal Ascot but maybe it’s time for reality to set in and stop making excuses at every turn and just come out and say that on a whole they just are not up to standard at the very top end in the 3yo division and that simply means winners. It takes more than for horses to walk on water to win these type of races

On second thought why not a take nice weekend sojourn up to Humboldt county, enjoy some of their finest cash crop and just relax a little.
Dont think your position for Ballydoyle’s unofficial PR machine is in much jeopardy around here.
As somebody who has owned a few racehorses I have no quibble with owners being viewed as a significant stakeholder as you put it, but his obvious contempt for the punter was there for all too see and I consider myself a member of that constituency these days.
Agree that Sean Boyce was well up to the interview but he seemed apparently not only to me, not pursuing vigorously enough the disenfranchised voice of the bettors.
For what it’s worth I think Chabal will be re-routed to the French Derby with Dettori on board, in search of some better ground, along with Simon de Montfort (nominally trained by al Zarooni) who’ll be ridden by Ajtebi. At Epsom I would imagine that Frankie will ride Al Zir, with Ajtebi on Rewilding.
The Ajtebi experiment will end in tears sooner or later. Having never once sat on a horse I find it difficult to criticise but I am going to anyway. Ajtebi doesn’t seem to get his horses as balanced as they should be and gives them a hard ride when their chance is gone. You can understand why Sheikh Mohammed wants a rider (as well as trainers) from the Emirates but I don’t think Ajtebi is good enough – you only have to look at the rides he picks up (or lack of) for other trainers to see what others think of him.
Agree wholeheartedly with those sentiments. Admire Sheikh Mo for a lot of things but his insistence on keeping Ajtebi in the limelight although it is blatantly obvious he will never ever come within a country mile of Frankie’s abilities is puzzling, even considering your point about everything Emirates. I thought the idea is to give your horses the best possible chance to win and that means putting the best rider at your disposal on the best horses. Ajtebi will never make that grade. Thankfully in Rewilding’s case common sense seems to prevail.
Chinese White? This is strictly a match between F&G and Cutlass Bay. CB is the class act and should cruise here. The only thing that tempers my enthusiasm for this horse is the recent switch from Fabre to Zarooni. Hopefully Frankie takes the ride.
He is the real deal.
The Clock doesn"t lie!
But not everyone knows how to tell the time.

I’d rate FAG in what I would call the Conduit class, capable of winning against inferior opposition, in the right set up, but not top class. FAG supporters will be paying up more often than not but then again there are so many "astute" players around here I’m sure they’ll only be piling in when he wins.
And the racecards are free.
