Out drinking on New Year’s Day? You’re a braver man than I.
French Opera NAP
Benbens
Ballycasey
Balder SuccessThanks.
£30 Sempre Medici @ 7/2
£20 Vinage Star @ 7/1.Menorah
Dynaste
Champagne FeverSpace Raiders had better be beef.
Forgot to put up the bet on Stellar Notion in the novice handicap at Kempton. My horse to follow this season, if they look after his mark, then I think he’ll win the novice handicap at the Festival.
£50 Stellar Notion @ 4/1
-£750.
Sempre Medici entered over 2m at Kempton on Boxing Day, might be informative.
The Blunkett kiss of death – SS runs like a crab.
I’ve put up Menorah in the KG thread – £30 @ 8/1
A few darts at the Welsh National too:
£10 Amigo – 14/1
£10 Benbens – 20/1
£10 Handy Andy – 40/1-£700

As the year draws to a close, the ante post position for Cheltenham looks like the following:
SUPREME
£10 e/w Miles To Memphis @ 33/1
£25 Allez Colombieres @ 10/1
£30 Allez Colombieres @ 10/1NEPTUNE
£30 Tell Us More @ 20/1
RSA
£15 e/w Deputy Dan @ 33/1
£10 e/w Deputy Dan @ 33/1TRIUMPH
£20 Hargam @ 20/1
£20 Kalkir @ 14/1A massive mixed bag there, a couple of positives and a fair few negatives. Sherwood needs to teach Deputy Dan how to jump, and never run him over less than 3m again.
Firstly, such a shame that Captain Chris isn’t fit. After swimming round bogs at Christmas for the last three years, the ground will have finally come right, but the poor bugger is injured. Done on the line by Long Run two years ago, he would have surely gone close this year.
I’ll be backing Menorah, anything around 8/1 is a stonking bet. Finally seems to have found some consistency with his jumping and again will benefit from the sound surface. With Cue Card, Champagne Fever et al forcing the pace, Menorah should be able to tank around in 4th or 5th and deliver a challenge turning for home.
If it rains then Conti will outstay them.
I’m on Menorah.
3.30 Ascot Goodwood Mirage NAP
2.05 Haydock Broadway Buffalo
3.00 Ascot Polisky
1.50 Ascot LancettoBoth ran stinkers, soft ground diddled me again. I’ve held bets on the Ladbroke this weekend because I keep backing top of the ground horses in bogs.
I’ve been waiting for Simon Squirrel for a while. Rock The Kasbah has franked the form, and SS ran all over the Hobbs horse on debut.
I’ll give Emerging Talent another chance too, getting weight from his rivals. The horse who beat him last time out went in again in a good event. If he doesn’t win today though, I’m washing my hands of him.
Josses Hill reappears today also. Been waiting for him a while, and the fact that he’s entered in such a hot race on debut surely speaks volumes.
£20 Simon Squirrel @ 8/1
£15 Josses Hill @ 5/4
£15 Emerging Talent @ 2/1-£640
It certainly was impressive from No More Heroes. I had Milsean of Gigginstown down for this, but I might hold my water a little to see what the vibes are. These owners due particularly well in this race.
£10 Full Blast 7/2 12:40 Fontwell.
£10 Fruit O’Rooney 13/2 2:10 Fontwell.As per thread on race:
£15 Attaglance 12/1 December Gold Cup
£15 Ericht 12/1 December Gold Cup-£590
The Neptune looks to be the highlight for me. Shaneshill looks to be the best of Wylie’s, whereas Giggy’s Tell Us More looks to be an absolute monster. And that’s without what Ricci targets.
Fascinating stuff.
But Douvan would have played second fiddle to Allez before his unfortunate accident. Allez was 8/1 without being seen in public. Douvan was over double that himself before the sad death of Allez – and that was AFTER an impressive debut.
Either Douvan has improved leaps and bounds since his debut, or people are latching onto another Ricci horse.
Suppose we’ll know in three months!
The Feltham is a terrible guide for the RSA – Dynaste, Cue Card, Long Run, Annacotty and Joe Lively all previous winners in the last ten or so years. All were turned over, or didn’t run in the RSA. However, Bob’s Worth was beaten in the race and won the RSA.
Impressive as Saphir was, the stats would be against him.
Agree on Attaglance, I backed him AP for the PP, but the rain did me. With better ground on Saturday, he should be bang there at the finish.
I’ll take a chance on Ericht too – make a shocking mistake at 2 out in the PP when not without a chance and should also enjoy the better ground. He set of fav in the novice handicap chase at the festival too – but it is a worry than he’s run more than one bad race at the venue.
Attaglance 12/1
Ericht 12/1Good luck all.
£10 Somersby 10/1
£10 e/w King Of The Wolds 14/1
£10 Bennys Mist 10/1-£540
