    Why did u email him?

IF YOU WANT TO BUY A HORSES ABOUT 14 MINUTES IF YOU ARE ASKING SOMETHING ABOUT WHEN A HORSE WILL RUN OR HOW HE IS WORKING 14 YEARS.

A trainer friend of mines gets about 2-300 a week and a junior member of staff filters through them incase one pr two are from a prospective owners. They have a few standard letters that are sent to people looking for info about certain horses. Which tell you nothing.

Of these the trainer reads ziltch, zero, none, FA. The have a lot more to do than answer emails i’m afraid.

I was actually talking about his mental attitude and should have made that clearer. Some horses when they get into a pressure cituation like he did fold in a heap but it never bothered him one bit.

As you say it’s hard to judge a horse phisically on the box but he moves like a horse who will appreciate fences. Lovely and relaxed and can keep up with the pace without any apparant effort.

I like this horse a lot and he’ll do very well in whichever direction WM decides to send him.

I think he’s had too many chances already Gerard; He runs a promising race then flops every time. Much prefer Charachter Building’s chances if John Quinn confirms he will run but chnaces are he may go for the Scottish National instead

Cheers matey. I grabbed 14/1 before JP got out of bed

Now about next season’s Hennesy

I would just enjoy the moment. I don’t think given his previous record I would get excited about him winning any other race let alone a Hennessey. This race effectively fell apart in front of him with the leaders not getting home/jumping badly.

You obviously missed the first part of the show which started when I fancied him to win this seasons Hennessy. As it happened the horse had a bit of a setback and missed the race but the point was others said he would never get the trip.

    Hence the  after Hennessy.

He ran a couple of weeks later over 3 miles  Then he was 2nd to Fair Along over 3 miles than made Big Bucks the world Hurdle/Aintree winner pull out all the stops albeit getting a lot of weight. He was really fancied to win but ran badly without explanation at Cheltenham. Now he’s bounced back here to win a 3m1f decent race easily and landed a nice touch for the yard.

He’s the only horse to give Denman something to think about before his heart problem and you think he won’t win another race?

As far as the Hennessy is concerned much depends on the weights and the opposition but there’s a couple things for sure. 1. He’ll get the trp 2. lesser animals than him have won it.

Hope you kept faith in Sunnyhillboy BTW  would hate to think you gave up on him as well.

WTF was Claire Balding thinking to ask poor Liam Treadwell to "show everyone your bad teeth…."….I would have said it were a momentary lapse had she not followed up with,"You can get them fixed now with the money!"
The poor guy just squirmed so uncomfortably. What a [expletive] prat she is sometimes.

Yeh i don’t see why someone would make someone else feel uncomfortable like that.

He should have asked her if her husband liked women with saggy bums and floopy boobs and face like a melted wellington. Whe she replied "No" he should have asked her why he was still with her.

Way out of order "silly woman"

Mikael D’haguenet looks very mature for his years and there must be a chance WM will go for the RSA with him. He did win the race with Florida Pearl when he was the same age.

However he does have Cooldine already going Gold Cup path and I suppose he might decide he will stick to hurdles for another year and could even go the World Hurdle route.

I doubt if he wants a step back in trip but he does have lots of speed so the Arkle is another option I suppose. We seem to have a lot of good young hurdlers who could go that route and I think WM will avoid it as his horse is clearly one who stays further.

You don’t even have to pick up the form book with Mikael D’haguenet to see that he is destined for the top. I was a tad disspointed with him when he hit the hill in the Balmore as he never pulled away like I thought he would. I would put that down to the fact he got into a pocket and Ruby had to use his speed to get back out of it.

The horse like Ruby never flinched and showed a lot of maturity at that point of the race. Even the commentator thought he was in a bit of trouble but the minute Ruby got space again he quickened like a flash and shot clear. That was what really caught my eye and impressived me.

If I had Mikael D’haguenet I would send him after the World Hurdle.

I just feel it’s a bit early to go chasing Gold Cups as Denman and Kauto Star could still be around in 2 years but in 3 years time their time at the top is most likely to be near over.

Ruby gave him a great ride. He really whacked the fence at the canal turn but Ruby never looked like coming off. In the end he’s run well but was still a silly price for such an open looking race.

I think we can agree on one thing Gary Wiltshire wouldn’t have a clue what the meaning of narcoleptic is.

I thought of you immeditaley when it won today and wondered how he would have done in that race a while back when he was suprisingly withdrawn.

Thought he looked a real good horse today but 2m 4f is a worry. They might up sending him in the direction of the world hurdle if they think his form isn’t good enough to go CH direction. Might be a good time to lay him off?

I agree Hurricane Fly is a totally differnt horse since running in France way back then but it is coincidence both horses were in the same race.

You would be as well telling me Won in the Dark is the greatest horse on the planer the distance he beat her weeks before.

Hurricane Fly’s 1st real test will come at Puchestown if renweing rivalry with Go Native and then he’s got to step up and take on the big boys next year. Jumping backwards tells us very little other than he is a very good horse which we already know.

Anyway I’m on the hunt for the bastids who said I was a plonker when I said Don’t Push It needed 3 miles and said I was crazy when Jonjo said he might run him in the Hennessy. Guess which race Jonjo is sending him for next season

I think that’s very wishful thinking. When BA was leading nothing was in a hurry to get there. Lots of horses were going very well inbehind and it was only a matter of time. Charlie Swans found hinmslef in front and looked like he was going to win for a time and look where he finished.

As far as Wilosn is concerned well done but he’s still a plonker. Running mules in the Gold Cup to say he has a runner to his high So pals is just BS. None have won and none ever will. Guys a nusiance

Can’t complin myself had 2 of the first 4 and what a great race it was. I was counting my winnings when Comply or Die hit the front thinking that other thing can’t possibly win. Really took off and was a very good winner in the end.

He’s very typical of a Grand National winner: Stuffs Character Building then gets beat when a hot fav in the race won by Notre Pere, runs a couple of moderate races then comes back with a bang for the National.

Not suprised Moehat took 33/1 when he did. That was probably a more realistic price for a horse who looked a good stayer at the start of the season. 100/1 is supposed to be for horse with absolutely no chance soemething you couldn’t say about him after he won a 100,000 punds race against a deceent field at Cheltenham a few months back. Very generous price.

Very hard to dig him out but well done to anyone who latched on to him.

As I am a day or so behind watching the racing, I have only just got through Friday’s card. My God, the BBC need to seriously overhaul their racing coverage.

    It is nearly unwatchable.

First, the positives. Darren Owen has done an excellent job the first two days as has Ian Bartlett.

I am sure Gary Wiltshire knows a lot about racing but I don’t think they could find someone with a more OTT London accent if they spent a night in Hackney. I can barely understand a word he says. And what has an aged snooker player got to do with horse racing – other than he comes from Liverpool (they are welcome to him) and he gambles badly on horses?

I can count the number of salient points Dunwoody, Williamson, Fitzgerald, Pitman and Ian Walker have made on one hand and still have eight fingers and two thumbs to type this out.

I just want to go to the commentary box and hug Jim McGrath and ask him whats wrong? He is still one of my all time favorite commentators but he doesn’t seem to be able to memorize or recall the names of the horses very well at all. It was all once so different. I understand he may have concerns in his life weighing heavily, (I don’t know if he does) but part of the job as the race commentator is too forget those for a few minutes and devote your mind to the job in hand. I just hope he is ok. He is such a nice man as well.

Rishi Persaud (sp?) could be good if he wasnt lumbered with Pollyanna interviews and human interest stories. Don’t kid yourselves, BBC, there is no need for them to attract a non-racing audience, it is lazy journalism, end of story. Not putting that charge at Rishi’s doormat, but he seems to be underused and I would like to see more of him.

Even the excellent Clare Balding seems rushed and not her usual self.

And for the love of Christ, if i want to see continual close up’s of one horse I will go to the track, similarly as the horses are finishing if I want to see the reactions of the connections, I will stand next to the buggers. Enough of this stuff and show the bloody racing!

And words cannot adequately sum up the unenthusiasm of Tony O’Hehir’s commentary.

And the theme music makes me have feelings of suicide. Not very uplifting, is it?

I can save the BBC money so they can cover more racing….

This is the line-up I would use:

    Presenter and Interviewer: Clare Balding.
Paddock Commentator: Rishi Persaud and Ian Bartlett who can double up reading the prices.
Race Commentators: Grandstand: Jim McGrath, Darren Owen covering fences 1-4, 10-12, 17-20, 26-28 and myself, available at a very reasonable rate and guaranteed not to sound as if I have narcolepsy covering 5-9 and 21-25 (trade with Darren if he wants!)

And look, I have got myself a better team at less than half the personnel costs and promise to concentrate on racing instead of speculating on whether the Duchess of Arbroath is wearing a hat.

    Craig.

You say you are a day behind watching the racing I think you are twnety years behind the times. The point you are missing is the grand national is watched by millions many of which are not racing fans. It’s very much family viewing on National day as well as for die hard racing fans. You couldn’t be more wrong about that and the BBC have experts advising them on this.
Human interest stories showing crowd reactions close up of fancied horses etc etc. is all part of a very well laid out plan.

I think if they let you loose their viewing figures would be halved and the other half would probaly fall asleep between fences 5-9 and 21-25 if you took over from our beloved Tony O’Heir.

I think the BBC do a wonderful job have a great team doing a very difficult job. I go out my way just to get a recording to add to my collection every year and have very few complaints.

Gary Wiltshire is dead easy to understand and I’m from the other end of the country. Where are you from that you can’t understand him? Don’t mean to be offensive in any way but I’m not sure as you have a really wierd accent when you are commentating.

That race today is absolutely no guide to Hurrcane Fly’s Champion Hurdle chances.

With all respect IC you really are clutching at straws if you are trying to prove HF is some sort of wonder horse.

Quevega was a 50/1 shot in France and went along to fill the horse box. The fact Hurricane Fly got beat himself and could only finish 2 lengths in front of a horse who was clearly nowhere near as good as she is now is hardly boosting the horses form.

Quevega claim to fame at the time was winning an 8k hurdle race at Gowran Park and being totally stuffed when finishing miles behind Won in the Dark.

She’s a totally different horse now as she was then.

One again Don’t Push It ran like an old cow at the Fetival. It seems he reserves his worst for the meeting ans like Sunnyhillboy Jonjo is at a loss to explain why he ran so badly.

Back over fences on an easy track this 3m1f should be right up his street.
If at his best he must have a very good chance.

I wouldn’t advise anyone else to back him as he hasn’t run well here in the past.

    Don’t Push it EW

    Katchit EW

    Kalahari King Win

    Saveiro EW

There’s massive confidence behind Swinbank’s horse here. Considering he was beaten by Hillview Boy who is 100/1 and he himelf is as low as 13/2 it gives you an idea how much.

I grabbed 14/1 early. I have no doubt the info is genuine but I’m not a huge fan of bumpers from smaller yards. They sometimes over estimate how good their horse is compared to an Alan King or Nicky Henderson horse. I backed him for a fair bit of cash but EW.

The money has been pouring on all day but there is still a bit of 9’s and 8’s.

Good luck and remeber and leave some beer money in the kitty as Aintree is thee punter’s graveyard.
