Totally agree BHL. Poor old Cat. Not had much luck so far this season.

His luck doesn’t get much better as he’s agreed to do a Q&A qith us…

It isn’t the stewards concern that Channel 4 shoved a mic in front of Mr Martin for about 10mins and he became very emotional. I do think they made a cock-up in reversing the placings but the tv coverage/timing was just very unfortunate.
It’s hard to put firm blame on any party involved, it was just a very emotional, and surreal, bit of racing drama.
I think the suggestion that K Abdulla should donate the prize money to Mr Martin is one of most ridiculous things I’ve heard in a while.

JQ barely brushed the fav. Can’t believe that was over-turned. SD’s momentum wasn’t hindered in my opinion.

Was one of the most surreal 20 minutes in racing, with the interview with the owner of JQ and then the announcing of the result. Very weird television.

The way they filles on the far side had absolutely no chance left a very sour taste in the mouth too

If there’s rain, don’t forget Pipette. I think she’ll be ok on good but nothing firmer -so the rain will be welcomed by A Balding. She only ever does enough so she could well be better than people think (25-1)…although she’d need to be, of course. Had a bit on her for the Oaks so I’d expect her to get at least 10f with ease, so could well be staying on when some of the 7f horses aren’t.

Fair play Albrookes you called the defection of Tabassum, what chance do you think Special Duty has, do you think she is a worthy favourite or one that should be backed against.

I’d be keen to take her on, Pickup. I think if Seta has filled out over the winter(Cumani says she has), then she is the most likely to beat her. I worry a bit about her action down and up the hill but they’ve given her a racecourse gallop which should help. A lot of the others are exposed as not being of Group 1 level (admittedly this isnt an outstanding renewal)…so although Special Duty only has a few to beat realistically, I think Seta has the potential to be a class above these. Should she not fire I can see Pollenator staying on providing she doesn’t boil over beforehand.

Cheers for clearing that up, Pompete.

How generous of them to offer larger odds online knowing that this will lead to a number of new accounts, with punters placing more bets owing to the fact that they can do it from their armchair, and possibly mis-manageing their finance more easily.. …..hidden agendas – I should have known.

It’s not hard to just feel like you can’t be bothered. Think I might register for an online account as we speak.

I know it’s hardly romantic to go into a bookies to put a bet on but gradually the appeal is being etched away with things like this. How hard is it to correlate online prices with shop prices?…and how hard is it to click 2-3 times on a mouse and give you a price on a horse without acting like it’s hassle!!!!

Couldn’t muster up the energy to leave the house to take the 7s about SETA yesterday. What a mug. Now into 5s with the defection of Tabassum – which I should have saw coming. Not a very strong renewal so hopefully she can do what Gossamer couldn’t.

Sorry pickup, all I received was a ‘TABASSUM will not run’.
I’ll try and dig a bit more.

I too was impressed with Pipette …

I am also a fan of Pipette. Balding has his string in blinding form so hopefully this continues for a bit longer. I don’t think she’s a complete no-hoper in the guineas but may not be quick enough. I think the 40-1 still available for the Oaks is tempting. Anything firmer than good would worry me though

I emailed the Stoute office to try and get a bit of info on her to put in a piece for next week and his representative emailed back that she will not run. Maybe she’ll do a Binocular.

Certainly will do. He has been very helpful, especially submitting his answers so quickly. I’ve wished him best of luck from all at TRF.

I am hoping that the next Q&A will feature Mike Cattermole, so get your thinking caps on. Myself or David will post a new thread very soon.
