6.50 Kempton I’m plumping for Fateful Attraction at a decent price. Has run well the last twice over C&D and its last run at Lingfield has thrown up three winners since. I have Dinner Date as the danger who has also shown good form over C&D recently
Don’t really fancy much else although Rhapsilian& Stormbust could be the two for the 820 with maybe Anfield Dream running well at a price.
At Lingfield I will be giving Ryans Future a closer look in the 1235 , Orange Square may upset the market leaders in the 215 and Millville who saves his best for the 12F distance in the 245 is the only other one I will consider.
Cheers Max
Bit of a mixed evening. Didn’t get the prices I wanted on Alto Vertigo, Fine Ruler or Mighty Mover of the ones I mentioned. I also missed the price on Fresh Mint. I did however manage to get a saver on Calloffthesearch at nearly 6/1 which covered the nights betting. Copped the tricast in the last to small stakes to make a small profit on the evening.
Lingfield & Kempton tomorrow but no Wolverhampton
A few fancies at Wolverhampton tonight
6.50 I’m surprised that Glenridding is the forecast favourite. Only won a maiden last time and its previous runs over 9.5F aren’t anything special. The one I like is the other likely pacesetter Mighty Mover who when winning a couple of runs back had decent yardstick Prince Noel and recent improver Tanforan behind that day. A decent bet at 7/1 or greater. The one I would be wary of is the top weight Western Roots who was a little unlucky last time and will appreciate the anticipated good gallop. An exacta with the two is a probability.
7.50 A poor lot and I think if Blackheath can lie handy which it should do from stall 5 then he should win. 6/1 or greater is a bet for me
8.50 Fine Rulers 2nd last time out stands out for me. If Four Tel who beat him last time out was in the race he’d be odds on (notwithstanding that this is a maiden of course !). Far Seeking also has form with Four Tel and would rate the main danger however I am tempted to go for a place on Lily La Belle who showed some ability in a C&D maiden last September.
I am tempted to take 2/1 about Fine Ruler but I might wait till tonight to decide. A small EW on Lily La Belle at 25/1 or greater.
9.20 I’m going to take on Obe Royal with one that finished behind him last time. Alto Vertigo was favourite to beat Obe Royal but didn’t dominate as when winning three runs back. Tonight he may be able to get to the front tonight and could prove difficult to pass. For the forecast I would put up Northern Boy who has been consistent over C&D and whose last run I’m ignoring as it was run over further.
Alto Vertigo 6/1 or greater. Exacta with Northern Boy
Mead,
Perpetual is right in saying ignore me. I’m sure you’ll have a great day.
I still go for a day out but on the weakest and least attended day, Thursday. Gold Cup day for me is now too crowded, but I think you’ve chosen the right enclosure if you want to watch the racing "live"and don’t have a seat. The atmosphere is what its all about especially if a well punted horse is in with a chance over the last.
As written before enjoy your day
My advice would have been not to bother.
If you are in Tatts the best of luck, if you are in the Best Mate enclosure stand near the makeshift stands on the hill and you’ll see all the way around. If you don’t want to wait too long for a drink go to the bar near the betting office at the back of the main building, the tents tend to be overflowing.
Hope you enjoy it.

The problem that day was he got there too soon. A great jump at the last put him with the leaders too early hence Carberry then had to disappoint him by waiting to ask for his final effort. IMHO of course.
Reet
Could it be when beaten by BJK that Blazing Bailey had an off day , similar to when being beaten 40L by Sonnyjoe this season ? Blazing Bailey has tended to show its best form January – March after a couple of runs. i personally think when BJK won the 3M novice that was good as he was aged 7. Out of Novice company BJK just hasn’t cut the mustard, when push has come to shove he’s thrown in the towel ( three metaphors in one sentence ! ).
If you think there is something wrong with BJK do you think it happened in between those two races against BB ?
TDK said "Can’t have that at all Reet HArd. They went no pace in the Gold Cup last year – the result? – Turpin Green got within 5 lengths of Kauto Star (and he is nowhere near as good as The Listener or BOS in Ireland for me). "
I’m with TDK on the above statement. I also think (getting ready for the flak here ) that The Listener is as good a yardstick as Exotic Dancer and if it comes up soft at Cheltenham then the Ryanair is a shoe in for The Listener. Furthermore I’m not completely sure that Kauto Star will stay the Gold Cup distance in a truely run race so I’m hoping if both Denman & Kauto Star get to the Gold Cup in peak fitness a truely run race is what we get. If that is the case and KS wins then I think there is no reason why KS cannot be judged as an exceptional champion but I wait to be convinced.

130 Pigeon Island 2pts win
240 Palarshan 2pts win
310 Sublimity 2 pts winI don’t think Denman will have it all his own way against The Listener. The Listener has proved himself a very decent animal in Ireland, winning last years Lexus comfortably beating Beef Or Salmon and the previous years Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition. It was also a decent run when getting done by BOS in the Hennessy with the previous years Gold Cup third a country mile behind. I also think his latest run was better than most people seem to be giving him credit for. Trouncing a 158 rated horse Mansony ( reappearance I know but it had won its reappearance both years previously) off levels would I have thought merited more positive remarks, after all didn’t something trounce a 162 rated horse in the Tingle Creek last year and now that ones a superstar. Now I’m not saying for one minute that The Listener is as good as Kauto Star, although on true heavy ground I don’t think there would be too far between them, but all the same I think this years Lexus will be very informative of the merits of both Denman and The Listener especially if the ground is heavy. The point I’m eventually getting to is that if Denman wins comfortably I think backers of Kauto Star should start to get really worried especially if it comes up soft in March.

Football’s on the telly, it’s (overall) straighter and it’s the global sport, so future liquidity is assured
This football is straighter thing always annoys me. When a player is flinging themself to the ground writhing around in so called pain it’s seen as "part of the game" when in fact its cheating. Getting a penalty by diving or getting someone sent off is cheating and in all probability affects the result. So by doing this they are cheating the football punters out of their money and as already mentioned the money bet on football is increasing so it is not insignificant amounts, yet you don’t see diddley squat reported about it. I know footballers dont necessarily do it for monetary purposes, although you could make a case for extra win bonuses for winning championships or cup matches etc, they are still doing punters out of their money and of course possibly the opposition. How many court cases have we seen where a footballer is taken to court because he dived to get the winning penalty thereby cheating the opposition and losing punters out of there money ?
I also know that football doesn’t rely on betting as horse racing does but at the end of the day cheating is cheating.
