Hurricane Fly on Tuesday, Sizing Europe yesterday, Big Buck’s now… This is the end of a golden generation.
March 13, 2014 at 16:23 #471514Thank you Big Bucks, shame today wasn’t the day but will always remember you as a great hurdler. Enjoy your retirement
March 13, 2014 at 16:55 #471520Need Annie Power for this treble to hit, come on!!!
£31 returns £1500
Vautour 7/2
Faugheen 11/4
Annie Power 15/8That must have been heart breaking Ben, I was shouting it on for you, it would have been a nice touch to pull off. What can I say
March 13, 2014 at 17:33 #471528Nail-biting stuff for you, Ben. A real let down. I just wonder if she knew what was expected of her in her first ever battle. Certainly didn’t put her head down the way the winner did – as PC mentioned, a fascinating profile for a horse who could be anything.
Sorry to see old Big Buck’s finish unplaced…the engine had gone right enough

Value Is EverythingMarch 13, 2014 at 17:48 #471533As suspected Big Buck’s was past his best, but this was the right place to bow out. Thanks for so many memories, not just the best of your time but best staying hurdler of all time. Your Timeform rating will live on forever.
Value Is EverythingMarch 13, 2014 at 18:18 #471543Interesting quotes from Nicholls on Big Buck’s
"His legs are not what they were…I’m just happy he finished in one piece"
Sounds like it was a bit of a gamble to race him welfare wise.
March 13, 2014 at 21:12 #471595You’re wrong there young fella, that isn’t what he meant.

Well that was gutting, but she lost to the better horse so no complaints! She ran strongly but like Joe said probably didn’t find as much when needed as many expected. Just hope Bob’s Worth can make it up tomorrow!

Nicholls meant the legs can’t go as fast as they used to TYF.
Though some of his post race comments do question why he was so bullish about BB’s chances beforehand.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2014 at 10:20 #471700Well, given that it took him 2 weeks to recover from his previous run I think they’re lucky that he came back ‘in one piece’. Don’t think they should have ran him [and it seems as if Daryl knew that as well].
