Someone had to start a thread on the greatest issue of our times.
Will Smith: was he right or wrong?
Or was it just a huge publicity stunt to generate clickbait about the politically correct Oscars with ratings going through the floor?
March 29, 2022 at 10:31 #1590191I doubt he was thinking about the Oscars Cork and I don’t think the
joke was that bad that it warranted Smith’s reaction. If Chris Rock
had seen it coming and ducked out the way, what would Will have done,
walked back to his seat looking like a dick or ending up with some
hilarious scuffle. He was happy enough to go to the Golden Globes, where Ricky Jervais
rips the p**s out of everyone there. If your an A lister at an awards ceremony you should know and be
prepared for a bit of barbed humour thrown at you. Reacting like
that he’s set himself up for more digs on various talk shows. He’s going to have to spend some time now apologising for his actions
and dropping the F bomb live at the oscars. It won’t help his career
much and that matters a lot to him.March 29, 2022 at 11:14 #1590198Chris Rock was totally out-of-order.
I know somebody that suffers from alopecia and they have found it very hard to cope with and have been prescribed strong anti-depressants. For a woman it can be even more distressing to suffer from it. For Rock to even consider a joke about somebodys suffering just shows what a dick he is.
Smith overreacted and should have had words backstage with Rock out of the limelight. Smith is lucky that he was not arrested as Rock does not wish to press charges.
Smith could have possibly lost his “Oscar” but, there is talk that he could be suspended by “The Academy”.
Both of them should be ashamed of themselves.

if it wasn’t then Will Smith may have a mental health issue
he was laughing initially and seemed to take offence as his wife had a face of thunder

I don’t think that was staged.
Smith reacted when he glanced at his wife.

Not my cup of tea of anything he has been involved with.
March 29, 2022 at 12:07 #1590208He ballsed up keeping his hand open. Apart from that, I’m with Smith. Look after your woman.

March 29, 2022 at 12:36 #1590210Despite all the false smiles beforehand, I think it just exposed how fragile some of us are. All that banter, not just here but many other occasions, but beneath that exterior they are bursting mad. It’s all a front! You let people get away with it and they will continue to do so if you never ‘challenge’ them.
Be interesting now how far the banter goes at other events as does the ‘offended’ now have license to lash out physically?Smith went from 0 to 10 in an instant from just the look from his slapper of a wife who must have a very strong hold of him.
Rock was also pretty naive watching someone march towards him in that manner and not expecting something to happen. To engaged in the speeches and banter he was delivering perhaps.
I was just glad it wasn’t a white fella slapping a black fella. You imagine the fall out from that!
March 29, 2022 at 12:42 #1590211The bloke was being rude to his wife. He should have lamped him, not a girly slap.

March 29, 2022 at 12:53 #1590212If I struck someone at work, I would be on a gross misconduct charge and dismissed no matter what the circumstances.
March 29, 2022 at 13:52 #1590218Definitely staged. Chris Rock’s tour ticket sales have shot through the roof since this incident.
Note how Smith only slaps Rock feebly, as well. If he had been incandescent with rage, he would’ve knocked Rock out cold.
March 29, 2022 at 14:10 #1590221March 29, 2022 at 14:34 #1590227It was staged and they have gone from wardrobe malfunctions and wrong Oscar awards to poorly acted out fights.
So many news worthy events happening so something was contrived to win back attention for an event that has lost any interest at all.
Watch any Hollywood fight and the acting hits are the same.
Amusing for kids to watch except for the swearing🤬.
But it is great to hear all the offended parties come out in force to defend/condemn them. (By that I mean, paid experts who go on the telly and radio, not members of this forum who are giving their opinion)
Somewhere there is a script for all this nonsense and maybe even a rehearsal took place.March 29, 2022 at 16:06 #1590242Definitely don’t think that was staged. Always been a fan of Chris Rock but that joke was in poor taste tbh and a bit of a low blow, still don’t think Smith was right to go up there and hit him though. Like others have said if any of us did that at work we’d be sacked on the spot. Hate the double standards.
His wife definitely has a hold of him, he laughed at the joke initially.
March 29, 2022 at 16:09 #1590243It sounds like these people are what my father used to refer to as “music halls persons,” there to entertain those with proper jobs.
He would have been puzzled as to why such people have been elevated to pedastals and called something called “celebrities.”
I couldn’t begin to care about any of them or any of it.

Seriously though, I think both deserved what they both got. Mind you, I’ve always had the feeling that Jada can be a gloomy so and so.
