I thought of three.
Her Maj, the Queen has to be a front runner. I’m not a royalist, but she still has a lot of what England is still about.
Mrs T. The top bird had bigger b0ll0cks than any minister in parliament today. She said it as it has to be said, and I respect that.
I then think about Hawkins. A brilliant man, no doubt. But for me it has to be David Beckham.
Anyone who has written more books than he has read, has to be a genius.
Your views………………
Please.

May 9, 2007 at 19:54 #105118Maggie Thatcher was voted the 15th best and then the 2nd worst Briton of all time, which implies only 16 people have ever truly inhabited these Isles! I think she needs to be at the business end right enough, she cut through the crap like no other Premier before or since (AFAIK).
I think one Anthony Peter McCoy might just pip her at the post though! ;)
May 10, 2007 at 08:19 #105119Tony Benn. Next question.

Everett- ugh!
Lemmy – the real thing
Patrick Moore – nice one GH, and the great David Attenborough can be added to the very short list of survivors from the golden days of the Reithian ethic.
