I just love nwalton’s “logic” of making British personnel safe by sending more British personnel to an active war zone.
It’s beyond idiotic. If you want our Cyprus-based personnel to be safe, you fly them back home.
March 15, 2026 at 18:57 #1760131Well lucky you were not around in 1939 1945
So I will ask again do you give them that freebie shot at OUR base and just say let’s go home
And you call my logic idiotic
So if they attack a base in UK what would you do then just let them do that and take just defensive measuresMarch 15, 2026 at 18:59 #1760132An attack on the UK is totally different, and you know it. Actually, you probably don’t.
And let’s not forget that the USA, who you are so keen to help, only joined WW2 after Pearl Harbour was attacked.
March 15, 2026 at 19:07 #1760133No they attacked a UK base with UK citizens on that base, what are you not getting?
March 15, 2026 at 19:10 #1760135Where have I said I am keen to help the US read my posts again and please don’t make things up
Again I will type it slowly as you are not getting it I did not want to go in with the US how many times do I have to state thatMarch 15, 2026 at 19:18 #1760137An overseas UK base is not UK soil. And they were acting in self defence after being attacked illegally by the US and Israel.
What are you not getting?
March 15, 2026 at 19:28 #1760141We did not attack them (Cyprus);so why did they attack that base and UK citizens
Serious question and it’s your choice are you pro Iranian?
And do you agree with their bombing of Gulf States? As you seem to think there should be no come back for attacking British basesMarch 15, 2026 at 19:32 #1760143No, I am pro International Law.
March 15, 2026 at 19:37 #1760145If we send a ship there and it’s destroyed we’ll be dragged into this war. Isn’t Trump lifting sanctions on Russian oil now because of it all? Can’t quite believe this is all happening to be honest.
March 15, 2026 at 19:39 #1760146Well what does International law state if one of your bases is attacked?
March 15, 2026 at 19:41 #1760148You have the right to defend that base. Which is exactly what we are doing.
March 15, 2026 at 19:42 #1760149RAF Akrotiri is a British Overseas territory and not part of Cyprus. And as Britain is a NATO member it is a joint operating base for NATO.
Arguably, when that drone hit, Nato could have enacted Article 5.
March 15, 2026 at 19:46 #1760150You have the right to take military action against them Glad
March 15, 2026 at 19:47 #1760152Thanks for that Wilts
March 15, 2026 at 19:52 #1760154“RAF Akrotiri is a British Overseas territory and not part of Cyprus. And as Britain is a NATO member it is a joint operating base for NATO.”
Thanks for that correction, Wilts. We all get things wrong sometimes, even though not all of us admit it.
This doesn’t render nwalton’s point any more valid: the RAF base is equipped with the latest technology and there is absolutely no need to endanger more British service personnel on the basis that one Iranian drone made it through the base’s defences.
It’s making a mountain out of a molehill.
March 15, 2026 at 19:57 #1760157So are we not endangering the people on the base by not bolstering it with more military personnel and equipment,or do when ever a base gets attacked we just retreat back to UK shores?
March 15, 2026 at 20:16 #1760161No one is retreating , the staff on the base are protecting it , they will carry out such scenarios all the time , Nwalton Starmer has stayed calm , go back to the Cuban missile situation when loads of American Generals wanted to go to war and Kennedy told them to calm down …. leave Trump to it , it’s his mess
