I had no idea he played Las Vegas for @ 8 years. Enough to destroy anyone’s soul. I’m ashamed to admit to seeing an Elvis impersonator at Rolls Royce Social Club a few of years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. [also, having watched the programme about ‘Lost in Space’ as well,I long to see an aged American with a face that looks like an aged American. Pricilla Presley looks even younger than she did when Elvis first met her!]

Agree except for Aretha Franklin
Try listening to her singing "You’ll Never Walk Alone", it’s not on Youtube but Last FM should do it for you.
January 12, 2010 at 00:44 #269396Just dug out an old Placebo cd; forgot how much I used to like them..haven’t bought any of their newer stuff. I’m sure that Bryan Molko’s sexual ambiguety prevented them from being more popular.
January 12, 2010 at 00:53 #269397Rocking to some Hendrix…….the guy is a hero.

I did think about mentioning Aretha when I posted, PPG.
This rendition of I Say A Little Prayer is possibly the greatest vocal performance I’ve heard from any singer.

Going to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang next week so shall no doubt be humming that to myself for ages afterwards. In fact, it might have started already].

A splendid, splendid album. I have Mark Radcliffe to thank for putting me on to it – when he was a DJ on Piccadilly Radio twenty-odd years ago, "Sombre Reptiles" from that album was one of his theme tunes.
Would have to profess a marginal preference for Eno’s
Before And After Science
album. Was going to post a link to "No On Receiving", but someone’s removed that from Youtube. Meh. Instead, therefore…
