Difficult to lose the manager at this stage of the season but as you say, he cannot turn down a chance to manage in the football league.
It is the big clash with Fylde tomorrow. I haven’t checked the prices but I expect they will be strong favourites based on the league positions and having home advantage. I hope we don’t concede early and give ourselves a chance.
Further down the pyramid, my local team South Liverpool is away at Cheadle tomorrow. The game has to kick off at 2pm because Cheadle’s floodlights are broken. I often wonder how some of these teams keep going on gates of 100 or fewer.

I think someone might be celebrating tonight though.
January 31, 2026 at 18:45 #1752729Too right I am. The pubs in Preston will be doing some more business tonight!
No doubt it was our best performance of the season, given we were missing a few players and could only name three on the bench – including a 45 year old reserve goalkeeper!
We had the better of the first 20 minutes. After that they took charge and it was mostly backs to the wall stuff. Renshaw produced some good saves and while it was 0-0 we still had a chance. We got one from a corner and a scramble and took it.
We took some fantastic support with us and made far more noise than the home fans. They are just a plastic club with a local multimillionaire’s money, with a soulless ground in a small retail park at the edge of a nondescript village. The stewards were all unfriendly as well – so I am glad we stuffed them!
January 31, 2026 at 18:57 #1752732Nice one CAS
Taunton’s game was called off today and I notice they have dropped into the relegation zone
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
January 31, 2026 at 19:09 #1752734Thanks Nathan.
I have just realised that all 8 FA Trophy ties were won by the away team. That would have been one hell of an accumulator!
February 1, 2026 at 08:38 #1752828Hope Southport dont draw Southend away like last season, Marine would be a nice draw for the Q/Fs.
The only other NLN team is Kiddy, fingers crossed for a home draw.February 1, 2026 at 11:53 #1752886Marine away is the draw we don’t want. Rubbish ground with a tiny away ticket allocation.
February 1, 2026 at 19:41 #1753137I see Morecambe have appointed Jim Bentley as manager until the end of the season. Good to see he is back in work and I wish him well.
February 2, 2026 at 15:43 #1753261Yeovil at home in the FA Trophy Quarter Final. At least it is a home draw.
February 2, 2026 at 16:44 #1753327Thats a decent draw, Yeovil are not having the best of seasons.
So Jim returns back to Morecambe, good for him, he did well last time.Kevin Nolan gets the ”the board retain belief” vote, to be fair to him. The club dont have any money to spend and the scraps he picks up are not league one standard.
“I’m hopeful, very hopeful,” Nolan told BBC Radio Northampton when asked about potential incomings.
“[We’re] looking at plenty of players, getting plenty of players thrown in front of us. Hopefully we’ll be doing business by the end of the window but as I’ve said it’s got to match exactly what we need and what we want.”
Nolan added: “We’re not just going to be doing it for just doing sake so we’re having a right go. Hopefully we’ll have some news in the next day or in the next few hours or certainly in the final hours.”
A striker please..
February 2, 2026 at 17:03 #1753338Southport 20/1 outsiders of the remaining eight teams with Hills. Almost tempted to have £100 to £5 for the hell of it.
February 2, 2026 at 17:11 #1753341CAS, go for it, Brackley won it when in NLN. I wont join you though as im a jinx.
February 2, 2026 at 18:27 #1753363Done it.
February 3, 2026 at 13:56 #1753436Hereford v Marine tonight postponed due to waterlogged pitch.
This is beyond a joke now. How can NLN let this continue?
February 3, 2026 at 16:21 #1753445If the players were from Peterborough, it would be fine with their six toes and webbed feet.
But realistically, theres not much they can do at present, other than play 3 times a week at the end of the season.February 3, 2026 at 16:27 #1753446Cobbs did make two loan signings, two more youngsters from Notts Forest, the fans are getting ready for league 2 next season.
Ive no inspired bets for tonight for the Barnsley V Northampton fixture.
But two correct score stabs on Barnsley to win.
Correct score 3-1 4@14s
And a 5-0 1@66sAs I am working in Sheffield at present, the thought of travelling 30 mins up the M1 and paying £28 to watch, makes no appeal. And its cold outside.
