Dalry, I was at Leopardstown today when the Lexus was abandoned. Word at the course was that Cooldine was going to be very hard to beat. Personally, I think Aran Concerto can get in the money, as he needed that last run to put him right. Ground is drying out all the time, so avoid Notre Pere like the plague!!!

Great to see Dream Alliance just hang on to win. As per usual in these Nationals it pays to side with Trends. Dream Alliance, Le Beau Bai and Mike De Beauchene all fitted the mould of previous winners. And where did they all finish?

He was going very well until he made that bad mistake at the second last.

I think it was the third last and I agree Coe was going well then. Following his previous run I’d marked him down as one to back in 3m 2f+ handicap chases on soft/heavy, and I’ve not changed my opinion.

From a local point of view I’m chuffed to see Lucinda Russell has a genuine contender in decent staying handicaps in Silver By Nature. I liked this one when I first saw him at Perth in a bumper, and he’s proved the chaser I thought he could be.

Peter Scu was really nervous before the race, wasn’t he, and but for that mistake at the last Silver by Nature would probably have won. Do you think his jumping is pretty well sorted, now, or will he always be prone to the odd blunder? On the subject of Northern horses, there was a good article in today’s times about Willie Amos’s abortive attempt at taking Lie Forrit to run at Leopardstown.

Sue Smith is featured in this week’s Weekender, so I bought the ‘paper for a change, instead of reading it in Asda.

    Coe
"A lovely staying chaser owned by Trevor Hemmings. He has always looked a proper chaser and last year he started to fulfil that potential with victory in the Tim Moloney Handicap Chase at Haydock. That was over 3m4f which is ideal for him. He has had a couple of good runs this season at Haydock and Newcastle, finishing second on each occasion, before running in the Welsh National on Monday. He made most of the running until turning for home when he looked like being swamped, but he stayed on really well to finish sixth. I don’t tend to look too far down the road, but he currently has a rating of 139 which would be worth considering for the Grand National in April. If we decide to go down that route I wouldn’t envisage too many other races before Aintree as Chepstow was pretty arduous." – Sue Smith

Coe wants to take himself out of every race,as poor a jumper you will see who miraculously gets from one side of a fence to the other,he travels well, then finds nothing! He is a laying in running dream!
