Correct me if I am wrong but you don’t get the same "non-Scottish" affiliations at Hearts/Hibs
You’d be surprised. Why anyone would ever wish to emulate the frankly tragic state of affairs in Glasgow is beyond me, but I suppose these are people who also pay £20 or more to watch the likes of Nish, Karipidis & Ksanavicius, so thinking wouldn’t appear to be a strong point.
Dundee/Dundee Utd
Organised religion is a concept yet to reach Dundee, along with sanitation, contraception & civilised language. Give them time.
April 26, 2008 at 10:25 #159982I’m popping along to the big match tomorrow just to see what all the commotion is about… again !

… and hopefully another Celtic victory.

I don’t know why I bother sometimes.Being British isn’t being non Scottish, but carry on

I’m proud to be a Scot and also just as proud to be British
April 28, 2008 at 08:51 #160309What an atmosphere. What a victory for the men in green and white hoops.

April 28, 2008 at 08:59 #160312Its embarrassing when clubs get together like "old mates" (Celtic/Liverpool). Bit pathetic really… Never understtod that one at all. If you follow a club long enough, there are enough greivances to keep the emnity going right across the board
and thats the fun of it…
April 28, 2008 at 16:27 #160395Aberdeen and Dundee Utd WERE representing Britain in their european quests whether they wanted to or not, you don’t need to promote being British it’s there for all to see/know.
When Celtic won the European cup back in 1967 it was said that they were the first BRITISH side to win a European trophy, they were also the first SCOTTISH side to win it even though they weren’t the first Scottish side to compete in a european final. The word British is used more to describe their win.
I’d also imagine that teams outside Rangers won’t display the union flag because of it’s colours, I actually seen a union flag at a dutch game the other night on TV
(I wonder if the owner was Scottish/Welsh/English/Irish or British)
April 28, 2008 at 16:37 #160400Don’t see the French, American, Australian, New Zealand, Chilean, Czech, Costa Rican, Croatian, Cuban, Luxembourg, Dutch flags at Ibrox too much I’d say, even though the colours are the same as the Union Jack.
Could it be that most rangers fans really want to be English and pledge allegiance to the English queen?
Just a thought!
April 28, 2008 at 16:48 #160402david what you on about now?
we have flown the american flag – DaMarcus Beasley
we have flown the Croatian flag – Dado Prso
we have flown the Dutch flag and still do – too many dutch players to mention
we have flown the French flag and still do – too many french players to mention
we have even flown the Spanish flag which is red and yellow – Nacho NovoRangers fans don’t want to be English, get a grip of yourself, we are proud to be Scottish & British that’s all.
ps. is the Queen not the British Queen? is she not for all of us?
give it up you’ll lose the argument hands down.

Methinks James the Ger doth protest too much.

April 29, 2008 at 22:21 #160666You can believe what you want to believe MP, I have no problems with that but you’ve got it all wrong.
They’ll need to re-write a part of history then as celtic will then be known as the first Scottish team to win the European cup
they won’t like that one little bit over Parkhead way as it would appear to "weaken" the stat a little
If I go abroad with my "British" not "Scottish" passport I hope no-one is offended or thinks I’m a hooligan when I carry my union flag about with me
April 30, 2008 at 15:16 #160781MP, you’re hard work you really are, when Scotland play England they represent their individual countries therefor fly st george and st andrews/lion rampant flags but I’m sure there would be a few union flags too (mostly from English fans though).
The point about Celtic’s european triumph hurting Rangers fans, first British team? – first Scottish team? it makes no difference to us as it’s still a win but it would make a difference to celtic had you devalued it somewhat down to only first scottish side.
Here’s a website for you to look at – enjoy!
May 3, 2008 at 19:05 #161411graphic removed for obvious reasons.
May 20, 2008 at 10:34 #164509Celtic will have to beat Aberdeen at the weekend and then Rangers again next weekend to have any chance. That would leave them 5pts clear but with 3 games extra played but their momentum should see them through the remainder of the season without a hitch while the pressure would be back on Rangers.
Can’t see it myself though.
CAN YOU SEE IT NOW DAVID???
