Anyone who thinks I owe Sidders an apology should go back and read his postings on this thread.Sidders tell us if you do or don’t believe this rubbish. If you don’t believe it why post it.
March 19, 2002 at 13:31 #98702Kathy do you believe it is proper to take away a mans good name.If Sidders allegations are to be believed JP McMaus is a liar and a cheat to put it mildly.<br>
March 19, 2002 at 14:06 #98703Is anyone here actually stupid enough to believe JP, a shrewd enough gambler as it is would have backed both Landing Light and Valiramix ?
Are you insane ? Are you stupid ??
I seriously worry about some of you if you believe that ! It’s absolutely outrageous and Luke owes no one any apologies !
March 19, 2002 at 14:15 #98704What Sidders has passed on is not only a blatant lie,it is a stupid lie.It has zero credibility. It has not been reported in any mainstream media and as someone pointed out earlier you would have been lucky to get 100 euros on a novelty bet like that.<br>If you read Sidders posting at 5:48pm he represents it as a fact that a 100,000 euro bet was struck at those odds.
March 19, 2002 at 14:32 #98705I am telling you for a fact that Paddy Power would not take 100,000 euros on a bet of that nature.<br>In all honesty do either you or Kathy believe it to be true.
March 19, 2002 at 14:46 #98706I remember JP McManus saying that he doesn’t back ante-post.
I don’t think that he would bet against Istabraq anyway – it’s not as if he needs the money.  The horse means more to him than that.
March 19, 2002 at 15:06 #98707This has to go down as the funniest thread in history!!!!!!! I aint up on all the betting markets etc etc but common sense tells us a bloody bookie wouldnt take a bet like that at that price EVER!!!<br> Also while were talking about rumours lets change to facts.Istabraq was INJURED in the Champion hurdle.John Halley………………………one of the most respected vets in Ireland………………..visited Ballydoyle on Thursday morning and confirmed Istabraq had pulled something in his back.Istabraq was just hand walked out over the weekend as his back was very stiff. This is FACT.
March 19, 2002 at 15:23 #98708Of course he was trained to win the Champion hurdle. So now some of us are questioning O’Brien’s training methods or ability…………………….Do you think he was trained for the race Escorial?
March 19, 2002 at 15:46 #98709I think the "miracle" quote is being misunderstood. In the context of any horse winning at 5 straight Cheltenhams O’Brien was refering to that being a miracle.I again repeat that Istabraq on the day was capable of winning the Champion hurdle but was injured.Should LLT have run in the Gold Cup race seeing as they never schooled him to risk his injury?
March 19, 2002 at 15:57 #98710Excellent message Razeen, could not have summed it up better …
Escorial, how are people supposed to be provide proof that he did not. I mean in that case I can make up rumours about anyone and then take the stance that if you can’t prove me wrong well there remains an area of doubt.
Kathy, your no smoke without fire comment and that message itself is very ironic. The fact is, your starting of this thread will lead people to believe there is no smoke without fire,
Yes, Escorial we do have the conspiracy theorists in full show here. Generally, people with no lives of their own who have nothing better to do than listen to, spread and encourage rumours regarding people they absolutely know nothing about and then sit back with a smug look and use lines such as," well there is no smoke without fire" to somehow claim their story has some shred of credibility.
These people probably read the National Enquirer for factual information<br>
March 19, 2002 at 16:02 #98711By the way, An Capall cannot get onto this forum but wishes to send the following message, just passing it on
——————————————-<br>"Somebody I met at Cheltenham has told me that someone told him that both Sidders and Escorial were involved in indecent acts with chickens.
I would hasten to add I don’t believe this- I just thought I’d pass it on. Please do not adjust your view of these fine people."

March 19, 2002 at 16:11 #98712That’s true,
but sidders was patently not-off on the day, and even Esc looked to be holding something back for Aintree.
March 19, 2002 at 16:20 #98713Escorial, there is a difference between suggesting Istabraq was not 100% going into the race [entirely possibly and believable] and stating that the horse’s owner had a six figure bet on him not finishing, amongst other scandals..
That is what the issue is here
March 19, 2002 at 16:30 #98714I have no problem with free speech and whatever but people have to be prepared to back up their statements."I wonder who placed 100,000 Euros on Isty with Paddy Power at 8/1 the day before he ran…………. " was the quote from Sid.I am sorry but that cant be left without questioning can it?Yes Sid was only passing on information but I am sorry by doing this Sid is involving himself in it. By doing this he has put question marks over the creditbility of Aidan O’Brien, JP MacManus and Charile Swan 3 of the most respected racing figures in Ireland. He said he doesnt believe it but then goes on to say to Gearoid "I know your over their mate so see if you can shed any light on it for us and tomorrow when I see him I’ll ask where he saw the bet recorded……… " .If this is’nt insuating some truth or possible truth in the statement then I am too cinical.I have no problem with opinions but this aint a view or an opinion it is just rumour.<br> No one seems to be in the least bit interested in the one FACT that well all know of,Istabraq was injured.Escorial really surprised you even giving this the time of day.<br> <br>
March 19, 2002 at 16:49 #98715Ahhhhh I just see I am now a "classic winner"!!! Spending too much time on here……….as my results show!!
March 19, 2002 at 17:43 #98716Just to drop a little fact into this sea of innuendo. A friend with me at Cheltenham phoned on the Tuesday morning for £100 on Istabraq to pull up at the 8/1 quoted and was knocked back to £50.
March 19, 2002 at 17:46 #98717<br> come on kathy be honest you only started the thread for a laugh i mean we have nearly all the non nod wink merchants and their alleged facts on it.
i mean one knows for a fact jp had a £100 k on a novelty bet another knows jp backed 2 other horses.
my mate sheik mustpha slash down at the cricketers arms swears blind the pipe connections lumped on hors la loi wouldnt know anything about this would u??
