Cormack
BOs could have beaten him more than that that day and not sure the two others (esp Hedge) ran anywhere near their best. The Rath race interested me. I felt WOA took a little while to assert himself there (maybe proof he needs further) but befoe he fell Strong prospect looked…welll…a good prospect (sorry). remain unconvinced about that race…
It wasnt just KK involved in the KGV either!. Monker did for a reasoanble field. On paper the strongest in any staying chase this year
March 17, 2006 at 13:15 #69705Lacoudal ran well yesterday…not a pipe scenario
March 17, 2006 at 14:10 #69706Hobbs is in form! :)
March 17, 2006 at 15:32 #2498Worthy winner, but maybe further proof that this was an ordinary year?
My one Monker wasnt quite good enough with his jumping and maybe feeling effects of season. Stayed though…
Beef? Well….
March 17, 2006 at 15:34 #69872Looked like a very good pilar to me, but I shouldn’t crab cos I thought that was a great race.
Well done Hedgehunter (why didn’t I have a forecast??)
March 17, 2006 at 15:35 #69873I was on WoA (glad I didn’t lay it off, now!) and thought that Hedgehunter was going to catch him coming up to the last.
I’m glad Iris Gift was pulled up safe and sound. I was dreading the comments that some people might have made if he had been injured.
Still, he hurdled a lot of the fences and was in the wrong race.

March 17, 2006 at 15:39 #69874great race my heart was in my mouth at the last i was sure Hedgehunter was gonna do woa. blew my money again on Beefy some day i’ll learn
March 17, 2006 at 15:44 #69876Nice to see the GC won by the ‘right’ type ~ i.e. a young progressive horse with genuine class ~ rather than an ageing handicapper (with all due respect to Hedgehunter).
March 17, 2006 at 15:44 #69878How is Celestial Gold?
March 17, 2006 at 15:48 #69879I think Celestial Gold is OK, wasn’t he the only casualty of the race – running at the head of the field for the rest of it? I think the screens were for Timmy Murphy…
March 17, 2006 at 15:50 #69880You’re right, ST.
I had thought that CG was the loose horse, but read elsewhere that it wasn’t.
However, I’ve just seen a replay of the incident and the horse stayed on his feet and ran on.

March 17, 2006 at 16:17 #69881Actually a really enjoyable race despite the losses through out the season. Never ever rated the winner but he did it well and has youth on his side. Old Hedgehunter ran an absolute blinder and Mullins must be thrilled with that after a dire festival. The third horse saved me through a terrible festival punting wise. Both the first and third are young enough to improve again given a bit of luck….with Trabolgan and Kicking King back next year we could have a decent bunch of three mile chasers.
March 17, 2006 at 16:22 #69882Yes I must say I thought War of Attrition had plenty on and at the prices there are five or six I would have taken ahead of him. But he won with a little bit in hand and is still unexposed at this sort of trip. The last 2 Arkles have provided that last 2 Gold Cup winners. Has anyone spotted next years GC winner in Tuesdays renewal?
I’ll have a stab that if the GC winner was in the Arkle, it was probably Monet’s Garden.
March 17, 2006 at 16:22 #69883Oh dear……
March 17, 2006 at 16:42 #69884Here’s your daily laugh. This is my bets I’ve put on for the Gold Cup 2007.
Trabolgan @ 14/1
Racing Demon @ 33/1
Star De Mohaison @ 50/1
Monet’s Garden may also be backed if it porves its stamina.
I’ve also backed Voy Por Ustedes e/w at 14/1.*
Anyone else looked at next year?
Edit * That’s for the champion chase I didn’t make that clear.

March 17, 2006 at 17:12 #69885Great race.Wa r of Attrition jumprd superbly.My choice came third.
Thank you Tony for pulling up Iris’s Gift.Nice to see him finish safe and sound and I must add that he jumped better than I expected.
March 17, 2006 at 20:51 #69886I was so impressed with Hedgehunter. What a gutsy horse he is. I was relieved to see Iris’s Gift in one piece, and for a while I thought he was doing rather well, but it was not to be.
