Really like Aso, and can see why he’s favourite, but taking an early chance with another pair.

If his run in The Many Clouds Chase hasn’t taken too much out of Wishing and Hoping then he must have a fair shout here. The manner of his win at Aintree in October was very impressive, and he’s worth forgiving that run last month.

I’ve always liked old Valadom, and you usually get a run for your money from him. He’s one that benefits from his first run, and lots to like about his run here last month. I’d expect him to build on that. He runs really well at Newbury, and the fact that he swerved The Mandarin there, is worth noting. I’d be fairly confident I’d get my money back in running from him if he does go.

Not convinced they’ll be that much shorter on the day, but I like this race, so don’t mind betting a couple Antepost. Just hope they go now.

    Valadom 16’s
    Wishing and Hoping 10’s

Aso is the obvious one and I’ve stuck a saver on, however I’ve had Potters Corner earmarked for this since October and i can’t look elsewhere. Has dropped down the handicap and showed there’s still something there at Cheltenham two runs ago. They perhaps could have done with skipping Chepstow, however I can understand why they went there.

This has been an uncharacteristically kind race to me since its inception, so I’m bound to have a mare one of these years. This isn’t a particularly strong looking renewal, which is a shame, but it’s a fabulous race nonetheless.

Aso looks very backable at 3-1 in this line up, and he’s my sole selection here

    My top figures read:

    167 The King’s Writ
    160 Aso
    157 Dancing Shadow
    153 Valadom
    152 Rolling Dylan

The King’s Writ looks solid at around about the 9/1 mark currently. Had a pipe opener over a shorter trip at Exeter and this test looks to suit him, and he may well have been targeted at this for the season.

Aso looks too short to me at around 3/1, so second selection is Dancing Shadow who looks reasonably well treated on some fair efforts of late.

There is quite some rain in the forecast for tomorrow. Might be heavy ground and that should suit Prime Venture. Not the most realiable sort, but he goes in heavy ground and is a big price.

Aso should def be winning this , he has form in the book the others can only dream of , near his form 2nd off 158 last year behind cloth cap will win this , stable did a sim job with the late great Houblon des obeaux and I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t win , e.w Sir Ivan was 3rd in this last year off 5lb lower , unlike most of these though he,s pretty consistent and runs his race , at 14s he’s good value

Aso seems a little short for me but would love to see him win this. Rolling Dylan would be my other pick.

Unoriginal but I have backed Aso to win. He really could outclass this lot. However, I have taken VTC’s hint and had an each way saver on Valadom with Hills offering five places.

I’ve topped up on Aso following Potters Corner not being declared. Also had a small go on Prime Venture at a nice price.
