    Hi

i posted last month regarding a horse that we own. I thought i would share with you how we are getting on.

About 3 weeks ago my partner Jill mounted him and was riding in field, he bolted and ran straight towards a ditch, at the last minute knowing she could not stop him and as she was to scared to jump the ditch she tried turning the horse and fell off.note the horse cleared the massive jump and stopped? Seems to love big jumps?

Luckily her riding hat is new and a good make, she suffered concusion but luckily no broked bones. We then decided we had to take it to an expert for help.

We have rehomed him in a stable woth about 20 other horses, He seems to be settling ok. One key problem is a large amount of fat underneath his neck so when you try and pull he ignores! Plus he has defintly been mistreated in th epast. A member here suggested he may of been used inbull fighting and unfortunately i think they are right.

We have been told not to ride, just get to know and build confidence for a few months. Thanks to all members who offered some great advise before, we noted them down. I guess we were trying to rush him.

Off to the Mijas Cup tomorw, free tickets from stables which is good.

Once again thanks to members for pointers.

Best of luck – it all takes time. Years ago I was breaking in yearlings (something I love doing) and we had a Dayjur colt (Eben Naas) for Sir Michael Stoute. He was so nervous he used to bolt all the time so I was given him to ride (nervous nutjobs my speciality!) and slowly we built his confidence up. It took us 5 months to break him in properly but it was worth it as he turned into a real gentleman to ride. All because we had patience and by the time he went into the main yard anyone could ride him.
